Parents are not to be put to death for their children, nor children put to death for their parents; each will die for their own sin.

“ When that time comes, people will no longer say,‘ The parents have eaten sour grapes, but the children’s teeth have grown numb.’Rather, each person will die for his own sins. The teeth of the person who eats the sour grapes will themselves grow numb.

When he had secured control of the kingdom, he executed the servants who had assassinated his father.But he did not execute the sons of the assassins. He obeyed the LORD’s commandment as recorded in the law scroll of Moses,“ Fathers must not be put to death for what their sons do, and sons must not be put to death for what their fathers do. A man must be put to death only for his own sin.”
