If a man marries a woman who becomes displeasing to him because he finds something indecent about her, and he writes her a certificate of divorce, gives it to her and sends her from his house,

Suppose a man marries a woman. But later he decides he doesn’t like her. He finds something shameful about her. So he gives her a letter of divorce and sends her away from his house.

“ When a man takes a wife and marries her, if then she finds no favor in his eyes because he has found some indecency in her, and he writes her a certificate of divorce and puts it in her hand and sends her out of his house, and she departs out of his house,

他們就問：“為甚麼摩西卻吩咐‘人若給了休書，就可以休妻’呢？”他說：“摩西因為你們的心硬，才准許你們休妻，但起初並不是這樣。我告訴你們，凡休妻另娶的，如果不是因為妻子不貞，就是犯姦淫了。”

罰他一千一百四十克銀子，交給那少女的父親，因為他破壞了一個以色列處女的名譽；那少女仍要作他的妻子，終生不能休她。

“如果人娶妻，和她同房之後，就恨她，

因背道的以色列犯了淫亂，我就給她休書，把她休了。我看見她詭詐的妹妹猶大還是不懼怕，照樣行淫。

如果他另娶一個妻子，那麼，對她的飲食、衣著和性的需要，仍然不可減少。

耶和華這樣說：“我離棄了你們的母親，休書在哪裡呢？或者我的債主中，哪一個是我把你們賣了給他的呢？看哪！你們被賣是因你們的罪孽；你們的母親被離棄是因你們的過犯。

那和她同寢的人就要把五百七十克銀子給那少女的父親，那少女要歸作他的妻子，因為他玷污了她；他終生不能休她。

他們說：“摩西准許‘人寫了休書就可以休妻’。”耶穌說：“因為你們的心硬，摩西才寫這條例給你們。但從起初創造的時候，神是‘造男造女’。‘因此人要離開父母，與妻子連合，二人成為一體了。’這樣，他們不再是兩個人，而是一體的了。所以神所配合的，人不可分開。”回到屋子裡，門徒再提起這件事來問他。他對他們說：“誰休妻另娶，誰就是犯姦淫，得罪了妻子。如果妻子棄夫另嫁，也是犯了姦淫。”

如果後夫又恨她，也給她寫休書，交在她手裡，叫她離開他的家；或者娶她為妻的後夫死了；

如果離開了，就不可再嫁，不然，就要跟丈夫復合。丈夫也不可離棄妻子。我要對其餘的人說（是我說的，不是主說的），倘若某弟兄有不信的妻子，而她也情願和他住在一起，他就不要離棄她。

耶和華以色列的神說：“我恨惡休妻和以強暴待妻子。”萬軍之耶和華說：“所以要謹守你們的靈性，不可行詭詐的事。”

她丈夫約瑟是個義人，不願張揚使她受辱，就打算暗中與她解除婚約。

“又有這樣的吩咐：‘人若休妻，就應當給她休書。’可是我告訴你們，凡休妻的，如果不是因她不貞，就是促使她犯姦淫；無論誰娶了被休的婦人，也就是犯姦淫了。

凡休妻另娶的，就犯了姦淫；娶被丈夫所休的，也是犯了姦淫。

“如果人有兩個妻子，一個是他喜愛的，一個是他不喜愛的，兩個都給他生了兒子；但長子是他不喜愛的妻子生的；
