( 23: 1) A man may not marry his father’s former wife and in this way dishonor his father.

‘ Cursed is he who lies with his father’s wife, because he dishonors his father’s bed.’ All the people shall say,‘ Amen.’

“‘ You shall not uncover the nakedness of your father’s wife. It is your father’s nakedness.

“‘ The man who lies with his father’s wife has uncovered his father’s nakedness. Both of them shall surely be put to death. Their blood shall be upon themselves.

It is actually reported that there is sexual immorality among you, and such sexual immorality as is not even named among the Gentiles, that one has his father’s wife.

“‘“ Now when I passed by you, and looked at you, behold, your time was the time of love; and I spread my skirt over you, and covered your nakedness. Yes, I swore to you, and entered into a covenant with you,” says the Lord Yahweh,“ and you became mine.

He said,“ Who are you?” She answered,“ I am Ruth your servant. Therefore spread the corner of your garment over your servant; for you are a near kinsman.”

But those who are outside, God judges.“ Put away the wicked man from among yourselves.”
