Then the officers shall speak further to the people and say,‘ Who is the man that is afraid and fainthearted? Let him go and return to his house, so that he does not make his brothers’ hearts melt like his heart!’

官长又要对人民宣告：‘谁是惧怕、胆怯的，他可以回家去，恐怕他使他兄弟的心融化，像他的心一样。’

官長又要對百姓宣告說：『誰懼怕膽怯，他可以回家去，恐怕他弟兄的心消化，和他一樣。』

官長要繼續對士兵說：『誰懼怕，心驚膽戰，可以回家去，免得他弟兄的心像他的心一樣消沉。』

官長也要告訴士兵，『有沒有膽怯、害怕的？他可以回家去，免得影響他人士氣。』

官長又要對人民宣告：‘誰是懼怕、膽怯的，他可以回家去，恐怕他使他兄弟的心融化，像他的心一樣。’

官吏要對人民講話說：「有甚麼人懼怕膽怯的？他可以回家去，免得他使他的族弟兄喪膽、像他那樣喪膽。」

族長又當告民曰、畏葸心怯者可歸、免使同儕亦喪膽、

族長亦必告民曰、有人畏葸怯心、則必旋歸、恐其同儕喪膽、與彼無異。

族長亦當告民曰、誰畏葸膽怯、可去而歸家、恐使其同儕亦膽怯與彼無異、

Then the officers shall add,“ Is anyone afraid or fainthearted? Let him go home so that his fellow soldiers will not become disheartened too.”

The officers will continue,“ Is anyone afraid or scared? Let him go home. Then the other soldiers won’t lose hope too.”

And the officers shall speak further to the people, and say,‘ Is there any man who is fearful and fainthearted? Let him go back to his house, lest he make the heart of his fellows melt like his own.’

“ Then the officers will also say,‘ Is anyone here afraid or worried? If you are, you may go home before you frighten anyone else.’

The officers will continue to address the army and say,‘ Is there any man who is afraid or cowardly? Let him leave and return home, so that his brothers won’t lose heart as he did.’

“ The officers shall speak further to the people, and say,‘ What man is there who is fearful and fainthearted? Let him go and return to his house, lest the heart of his brethren faint like his heart.’

And the officers shall speak further unto the people, and they shall say, What man is there that is fearful and faint- hearted? let him go and return unto his house, lest his brethren’s heart melt as his heart.

The officers will continue to address the army and say,‘ Is there any man who is afraid or cowardly? Let him leave and return home, so that his brothers’ hearts won’t melt like his own.’

And the officers shall speak further unto the people, and they shall say, What man[ is there that is] fearful and fainthearted? let him go and return unto his house, lest his brethren’s heart faint as well as his heart.

In addition, the officers are to say to the troops,“ Who among you is afraid and fainthearted? He may go home so that he will not make his fellow soldier’s heart as fearful as his own.”

The officers shall speak further to the people, and they shall say,“ What man is there who is fearful and faint- hearted? Let him go and return to his house, lest his brother’s heart melt as his heart.”

Where can we go up? Our brothers have made our hearts melt, by saying,“ The people are bigger and taller than we; the cities are large and fortified up to heaven. And besides, we saw the sons of the Anakim there.” ’

Now therefore come, proclaim in the hearing of the people, saying,‘ Whoever is afraid and worried, is to return and leave Mount Gilead.’ ” So twenty two thousand from the people returned, but ten thousand remained.

Then the chiefs of Edom were terrified; The leaders of Moab, trembling grips them; All the inhabitants of Canaan have despaired.

“ When you go out as an army against your enemies, you shall be on guard against every evil thing.

But the men who had gone up with him said,“ We are not able to go up against the people, because they are too strong for us.”So they brought a bad report of the land which they had spied out to the sons of Israel, saying,“ The land through which we have gone to spy out is a land that devours its inhabitants; and all the people whom we saw in it are people of great stature.We also saw the Nephilim there( the sons of Anak are part of the Nephilim); and we were like grasshoppers in our own sight, and so we were in their sight.”Then all the congregation raised their voices and cried out, and the people wept that night.And all the sons of Israel grumbled against Moses and Aaron; and the entire congregation said to them,“ If only we had died in the land of Egypt! Or even if we had died in this wilderness!So why is the Lord bringing us into this land to fall by the sword? Our wives and our little ones will become plunder! Would it not be better for us to return to Egypt?”

But Jesus said to him,“ No one, after putting his hand to the plow and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.”

For when they went up to the Valley of Eshcol and saw the land, they discouraged the sons of Israel so that they did not go into the land which the Lord had given them.

So because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will vomit you out of My mouth.

Do not be deceived:“ Bad company corrupts good morals.”
