Do not provoke them to war, for I will not give you any of their land, not even enough to put your foot on. I have given Esau the hill country of Seir as his own.

把雅各和以掃賜給以撒，把西珥山賜給以掃作產業，雅各和他的子孫則去了埃及。

於是以掃，即以東，搬到了西珥山居住。

你必從人群中被趕走，與野獸同住，像牛一樣吃草，達七年之久，直到你知道至高者主宰世上萬國，祂要把國賜給誰就賜給誰。」

當初，至高者賜萬國產業，把人類分開，祂依照天使的數目，為萬族定疆界。

你必從人群中被趕走，與野獸同住，像牛一樣吃草，被天上的露水浸濕，達七年之久，直到你知道至高者主宰世上萬國，祂要把國賜給誰就賜給誰。

祂從一人造出萬族，讓他們散居世界各地，又預先定下他們的期限和居住的疆界，

我伸出大能的臂膀創造了大地、地上的人類和動物，我想把大地賜給誰就賜給誰。

「從前以色列人離開埃及的時候，你不准他們侵犯亞捫人、摩押人和來自西珥山的人，他們就繞道而行，沒有毀滅這些人。但現在這些人要報復我們，把我們從你賜給我們作產業的地方趕走。我們的上帝啊，難道你不懲罰他們嗎？面對前來攻擊的大軍，我們無力抵擋，不知道該怎麼辦，我們只有仰望你。」

當時在這片土地上，上帝沒有給他任何產業，他甚至連立足之地也沒有。但上帝應許要把這片土地賜給他和他的後裔作產業，儘管那時候亞伯拉罕還沒有兒子。
