But Sihon king of Heshbon was not willing for us to pass through his land; for the Lord your God hardened his spirit and made his heart obstinate, in order to hand him over to you, as he is today.

But Sihon king of Heshbon refused to let us pass through. For the Lord your God had made his spirit stubborn and his heart obstinate in order to give him into your hands, as he has now done.

But Sihon, the king of Heshbon, refused to let us walk through. The Lord your God had made him stubborn in his heart and spirit. The Lord wanted to hand him over to you. And that’s exactly what he has done.

But Sihon the king of Heshbon would not let us pass by him, for the Lord your God hardened his spirit and made his heart obstinate, that he might give him into your hand, as he is this day.

“ But King Sihon of Heshbon refused to allow us to pass through, because the Lord your God made Sihon stubborn and defiant so he could help you defeat him, as he has now done.

The thing molded will not say to the molder,“ Why did you make me like this,” will it?Or does the potter not have a right over the clay, to make from the same lump one object for honorable use, and another for common use?What if God, although willing to demonstrate His wrath and to make His power known, endured with great patience objects of wrath prepared for destruction?And He did so to make known the riches of His glory upon objects of mercy, which He prepared beforehand for glory,

But Sihon did not trust Israel to pass through his territory; so Sihon gathered all his people and camped in Jahaz, and fought with Israel.

Because I know that you are obstinate, And your neck is an iron tendon And your forehead bronze,

So Moses and Aaron performed all these wonders before Pharaoh; yet the Lord hardened Pharaoh’s heart, and he did not let the sons of Israel go out of his land.

There was not a city which made peace with the sons of Israel except the Hivites living in Gibeon; they took them all in battle.For it was of the Lord to harden their hearts, to meet Israel in battle in order that he might utterly destroy them, that they might receive no mercy, but that he might destroy them, just as the Lord had commanded Moses.
