as the descendants of Esau, who live in Seir, and the Moabites, who live in Ar, did for us— until we cross the Jordan into the land the Lord our God is giving us.”

The people of Esau, who live in Seir, allowed us to do that. The people of Moab, who live in Ar, also allowed us to do it. So let us walk through until we go across the Jordan River. Then we’ll be able to go into the land the Lord our God is giving us.”

就派遣使者去見以東王，說：求你讓我們經過你的領土。以東王卻不答應；又派遣使者去見摩押王，摩押王也不肯；以色列人就住在加低斯。以後，他們走過曠野，繞過以東地和摩押地，到了摩押地的東邊，在亞嫩河那邊安營；他們並沒有進入摩押境內，因為亞嫩河是摩押的邊界。

以東王對使者說：“你不可從我這裡經過，免得我帶著刀出來攻擊你。”

亞捫人或摩押人不可進耶和華的會；他們的後代直到第十代，也永遠不可進耶和華的會。因為你們出埃及的時候，他們沒有拿食物和水在路上迎接你們，又因為他們從兩河之間的亞蘭的毗奪雇了比珥的兒子巴蘭，來攻擊你，咒詛你。

你要知道，耶和華你的神把這美地賜給你作產業，並不是因著你的義；你本來是頑固的民族。

“以色列人哪，現在你們要聽我向來教訓你們遵行的律例和典章，使你們可以活著，可以進去得著耶和華你們列祖的神賜給你們的地作產業。

耶和華對我說：‘你不可敵視摩押人，也不可與他們爭戰；他們的地我不賜給你作產業，因為我已經把亞珥賜給了羅得的子孫作產業。

你要有準確公正的法碼，你要有準確公正的升斗，好使你在耶和華你的神賜給你的地上，得享長壽。

“你們要走遍營中，吩咐人民說：‘你們要預備糧食，因為三天之內，你們要過這約旦河，進去得耶和華你們的神要賜給你們作產業的地。’”約書亞又對流本人、迦得人和瑪拿西半個支派的人說：“你們要記住耶和華的僕人摩西吩咐你們的話：‘耶和華你們的神賜你們安息，他必把這地賜給你們。’你們的妻子、孩子和牲畜，都可以留在約旦河東邊、摩西賜給你們的地上；但你們所有英勇的戰士，都要拿起武器，在你們的兄弟前面過河去，幫助他們；等到耶和華使你們的兄弟可以和你們一樣安居，同樣得著耶和華你們的神要賜給他們作產業的地，你們才可以回到你們所得的地，以它作你們的產業，就是耶和華的僕人摩西在約旦河東邊日出之地賜給你們的地方。”

你要遵守我今日吩咐你的律例和誡命，使你和你的子孫得享福樂，也使你在耶和華你的神賜給你的那地上得享長壽。”

“‘要孝敬父母，照著耶和華你的神吩咐你的，使你可以得享長壽，也使你在耶和華你的神賜給你的地上，得享福樂。

耶和華又因你們的緣故，向我發怒，並且起誓不讓我過約旦河，也不容我進入耶和華你的神賜給你作產業的那美地。
