自離迦叠巴尼亞時、至渡撒烈溪時、歷三十有八年、於斯時也、斯代之諸武士、俱死於營中、循主向彼所誓之言、

Thirty-eight years passed from the time we left Kadesh Barnea until we crossed the Zered Valley. By then, that entire generation of fighting men had perished from the camp, as the Lord had sworn to them.

Between the time we left Kadesh Barnea and the time we went across the Zered Valley, 38 years had passed. By then, all the fighting men who had been in our camp from the beginning had died. The Lord had warned them that it would happen.

And the time from our leaving Kadesh-barnea until we crossed the brook Zered was thirty-eight years, until the entire generation, that is, the men of war, had perished from the camp, as the Lord had sworn to them.

“ Thirty eight years passed from the time we first left Kadesh barnea until we finally crossed the Zered Brook! By then, all the men old enough to fight in battle had died in the wilderness, as the Lord had vowed would happen.

The time we spent traveling from Kadesh-barnea until we crossed the Zered Valley was thirty-eight years until the entire generation of fighting men had perished from the camp, as the LORD had sworn to them.

Now the time that it took for us to come from Kadesh barnea until we crossed over the Wadi Zered was thirty eight years, until all the generation of the men of war perished from within the camp, just as the Lord had sworn to them.

And the time we took to come from Kadesh Barnea until we crossed over the Valley of the Zered was thirty-eight years, until all the generation of the men of war was consumed from the midst of the camp, just as the Lord had sworn to them.

And the days in which we came from Kadesh- barnea, until we were come over the brook Zered, were thirty and eight years; until all the generation of the men of war were consumed from the midst of the camp, as Jehovah sware unto them.

The time we spent traveling from Kadesh-barnea until we crossed the Zered Valley was 38 years until the entire generation of fighting men had perished from the camp, as the Lord had sworn to them.

And the space in which we came from Kadeshbarnea, until we were come over the brook Zered,[ was] thirty and eight years; until all the generation of the men of war were wasted out from among the host, as the LORD sware unto them.

Now the length of time it took for us to go from Kadesh Barnea to the crossing of Wadi Zered was thirty-eight years, time for all the military men of that generation to die, just as the LORD had vowed to them.

The days in which we came from Kadesh Barnea until we had come over the brook Zered were thirty- eight years: until all the generation of the men of war were consumed from the middle of the camp, as Yahweh swore to them.

『永恆主聽見了你們的話的語氣，就惱怒，便起誓說：「這壞世代的人、連一個也不得以看見我所起誓應許給你們列祖的美好之地；

我並且我在曠野也曾向他們舉手起了誓、必不領他們進我所賜給他們、流奶與蜜之地，就是在列邦中最華美的；

因此我發義怒地起誓說：他們斷不得以進我所賜的安居地。

但這些人中間沒有一個人是摩西和祭司亞倫、在西乃曠野點閱以色列人所點閱過的。因為永恆主曾經說到他們、說：『他們一定必死在曠野。』所以除了耶孚尼的兒子迦勒、和嫩的兒子約書亞以外、他們中間連一個人也沒有留下來。

來到巴蘭曠野的加低斯、見摩西、亞倫和以色列人全會眾，向他們和全會眾報告，又把那地的果子給他們看。

從何烈、按西珥山的路向到加低斯巴尼亞、有十一天的路程；

『我們從何烈往前行，走遍你們所看見那大而可怕的曠野，照永恆主我們的上帝所吩咐我們的、按到亞摩利人山地的路向而行；我們就到達了加低斯巴尼亞。

你要告訴他們說：「永恆主發神諭說：我指着永活的我來起誓，你們既說給我親耳聽見了，我就一定要照你們所說的待你們。你們的屍身必倒斃在這曠野；你們凡被點閱過的、按你們的總數、從二十歲和以上的、凡向我發怨言的、都一定不得進入我所舉手起誓叫你們居住的地；惟獨耶孚尼的兒子迦勒和嫩的兒子約書亞才得以進去。但你們的小孩、你們所說必被擄掠的、我卻要把他們領進去，他們就得以認識你們所棄絕的地。至於你們呢、你們的屍身總要倒斃在這曠野的。你們的子孫必在曠野做遊牧四十年、擔當你們變節的罪罰，直到你們的屍身在曠野都滅盡了。按你們窺探那地的日數四十天、一天頂一年，你們必擔當你們的罪罰四十年，你們就知道我跟你們作對是甚麼樣子。」我永恆主已經說過，我總要這樣對待這一切會集來敵我的壞會眾；他們就一定在這曠野滅盡，在這裏死亡。』

然而他們大多數人、上帝並不喜悅：他們都在野地覆亡了。

我們的日子都在你的震怒中過去；我們度盡了歲月、像歎了一口氣。

於是你們在加低斯住了所住下的那麼多日子。

你叫世人回歸塵土，說：『人類啊，要歸回！』

就不可硬着心，像在曠野惹他發怒時、試探他的日子一樣；在那裏，你們的祖宗以試驗試探我，看我的作為四十年。所以我厭惡那世代說：「他們永是心裏失迷，不認識我的道路的；我就帶着義怒起誓說：「他們斷不得以進我的安息」』——所以弟兄們，你們要謹慎，恐怕你們中間有人存着不信之邪惡心，以至於背棄了永活的上帝。你們總要趁着還有叫做「今日」的時候、天天彼此鼓勵，免得你們中間有人因了罪惡之誘惑而變剛愎。（因為我們如果持守起初的確信，堅定不移到末了，我們就成了與分於基督的人了）——到以下這句話還在說得響的時候：『今日你們如果聽見他的聲音，就不可硬着心，像惹他發怒一樣。』當時聽而惹他發怒的是誰呢？豈不是那些由摩西領導出埃及的眾人麼？上帝四十年厭惡誰呢？豈不是那些犯了罪、屍首倒在曠野的人麼？他向誰起誓說、他們必不得以進入他的安息呢？豈不是向那些硬不信從的人是向誰呢？這樣、我們就看清楚了，他們不能進入，是因為不信的緣故。

從前主曾儘一次地救了他的人民出埃及地，後來又叫不信的人滅亡；這一切事你們雖都知道了，我的意思還是要提醒你們記得。

因此他對他們舉了手起誓，必使他們倒斃於曠野，

「凡由埃及上來、從二十歲和以上的人、斷不得以看見我對亞伯拉罕、以撒、雅各起誓應許的土地，因為他們沒有滿心滿懷地跟從我。
