他不可擁有許多妃嬪，恐怕他的心會偏離耶和華，也不可為自己積蓄大量金銀。

He must not take many wives, or his heart will be led astray. He must not accumulate large amounts of silver and gold.

The king must not have many wives. If he does, they will lead him astray. He must not store up large amounts of silver and gold.

And he shall not acquire many wives for himself, lest his heart turn away, nor shall he acquire for himself excessive silver and gold.

The king must not take many wives for himself, because they will turn his heart away from the Lord. And he must not accumulate large amounts of wealth in silver and gold for himself.

我說：「這豈不是以色列王所羅門所犯的罪嗎？眾國中沒有王可與他相比，他的上帝愛他，立他做全以色列的王。然而，連他也被外族女子引入罪中。

因此，人要離開父母，與妻子結合，二人成為一體。

除了埃及公主以外，所羅門王還寵愛許多外邦女子，有摩押人、亞捫人、以東人、西頓人和赫人。耶和華曾告訴以色列人不可跟這些外族人通婚，免得受引誘去隨從他們的神明，所羅門卻迷戀這些女子。他有七百個妻子，都是外國的公主，還有三百個妃嬪。這些女子使他的心背棄耶和華。所羅門年老的時候，他的嬪妃誘惑他的心去追隨別的神明。他沒有像他父親大衛那樣忠心順服他的上帝耶和華。

求你使虛偽和謊言遠離我，求你讓我不貧窮也不富足，賜給我需用的飲食，免得我因為飽足就不認你，說：「耶和華是誰呢？」又恐怕我因窮困而偷竊，以致辱沒我上帝的名。

不要敲詐勒索，不要妄想靠偷盜發財，即使財富增多，也不要倚靠它。

『因此，人要離開父母，與妻子結合，二人成為一體。』

大衛在希伯崙生的兒子有耶斯列人亞希暖所生的長子暗嫩，迦密人拿八的遺孀亞比該所生的次子基利押，基述王達買的女兒瑪迦所生的三子押沙龍，哈及所生的四子亞多尼雅，亞比她所生的五子示法提雅，大衛的妻子以格拉所生的六子以特念。大衛的這些兒子都是在希伯崙生的。

接著，祂對眾人說：「你們要小心防範一切的貪心，因為人的生命並不在於家道富足。」

你要勸誡那些今世富足的人不要高傲，也不要冀望於靠不住的錢財，要信靠將萬物厚賜給我們享用的上帝。

上帝不是把你們結合為一體，叫你們肉體和心靈都歸祂嗎？祂為何這樣做？是為了得敬虔的後裔。所以，要看管好你們的心，不可對自己年輕時所娶的妻子不忠。

那些渴望發財的人卻陷入誘惑、網羅和許多愚蠢有害的慾望中，以致落入敗壞和滅亡中。

事後，耶穌對門徒說：「我實在告訴你們，有錢人進天國很困難。我再告訴你們，駱駝穿過針眼比有錢人進上帝的國還容易呢！」

種子落在荊棘叢中，是指人雖然聽過道，但生活的憂慮和錢財的迷惑把道擠住了，以致不能結出果實；

「不要為自己在世上積攢財寶，世上有蟲子咬，會生銹，又有賊闖進來偷。你們要把財寶積攢在天上，天上沒有蟲子咬，不會生銹，也沒有賊闖進來偷。

所羅門王所有的杯子都是金的，黎巴嫩林宮裡的所有器皿都是純金的，沒有一件是用銀子造的，因為所羅門年間銀子不算什麼。
