If a prophet, or one who foretells by dreams, appears among you and announces to you a sign or wonder,

Suppose a prophet appears among you. Or someone comes who uses dreams to tell what’s going to happen. He tells you that a sign or something amazing is going to take place.

Therefore hearken not ye to your prophets, nor to your diviners, nor to your dreamers, nor to your enchanters, nor to your sorcerers, which speak unto you, saying, Ye shall not serve the king of Babylon:

I have heard what the prophets said, that prophesy lies in my name, saying, I have dreamed, I have dreamed.How long shall[ this] be in the heart of the prophets that prophesy lies? yea,[ they are] prophets of the deceit of their own heart;Which think to cause my people to forget my name by their dreams which they tell every man to his neighbour, as their fathers have forgotten my name for Baal.The prophet that hath a dream, let him tell a dream; and he that hath my word, let him speak my word faithfully. What[ is] the chaff to the wheat? saith the LORD.

For thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Let not your prophets and your diviners, that[ be] in the midst of you, deceive you, neither hearken to your dreams which ye cause to be dreamed.

Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.

For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if[ it were] possible, they shall deceive the very elect.

Woe unto you, when all men shall speak well of you! for so did their fathers to the false prophets.

For from the least of them even unto the greatest of them every one[ is] given to covetousness; and from the prophet even unto the priest every one dealeth falsely.

For both prophet and priest are profane; yea, in my house have I found their wickedness, saith the LORD.

And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.

Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.

The ancient and honourable, he[ is] the head; and the prophet that teacheth lies, he[ is] the tail.

For the idols have spoken vanity, and the diviners have seen a lie, and have told false dreams; they comfort in vain: therefore they went their way as a flock, they were troubled, because[ there was] no shepherd.

And it shall come to pass in that day,[ that] the prophets shall be ashamed every one of his vision, when he hath prophesied; neither shall they wear a rough garment to deceive:

For false Christs and false prophets shall rise, and shall shew signs and wonders, to seduce, if[ it were] possible, even the elect.

He said unto him, I[ am] a prophet also as thou[ art]; and an angel spake unto me by the word of the LORD, saying, Bring him back with thee into thine house, that he may eat bread and drink water.[ But] he lied unto him.

But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction.

Son of man, prophesy against the prophets of Israel that prophesy, and say thou unto them that prophesy out of their own hearts, Hear ye the word of the LORD;Thus saith the Lord GOD; Woe unto the foolish prophets, that follow their own spirit, and have seen nothing!

[ Thus] shalt thou also speak to Shemaiah the Nehelamite, saying,

Therefore ye shall see no more vanity, nor divine divinations: for I will deliver my people out of your hand: and ye shall know that I[ am] the LORD.

[ Even him], whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,
