則當謹恪、勿陷於坎阱、勿求其上帝、意謂斯民服事其上帝、我亦必如是以行。

彼見滅於爾前之後、慎毋隨其惡俗陷於罪網、毋求其所敬之神、毋自言此諸國之民、如何事其諸神、我亦欲如是行、

and after they have been destroyed before you, be careful not to be ensnared by inquiring about their gods, saying,“ How do these nations serve their gods? We will do the same.”

They will be destroyed to make room for you. But when they are destroyed, be careful. Don’t be trapped. Don’t ask questions about their gods. Don’t say,“ How do these nations serve their gods? We’ll do it in the same way.”

take care that you be not ensnared to follow them, after they have been destroyed before you, and that you do not inquire about their gods, saying,‘ How did these nations serve their gods?— that I also may do the same.’

do not fall into the trap of following their customs and worshiping their gods. Do not inquire about their gods, saying,‘ How do these nations worship their gods? I want to follow their example.’

耶和华你的神交给你的所有民族，你都要把他们消灭；你的眼不可怜惜他们；你也不可事奉他们的神，因为这必成为你的网罗。

你们说：我们要像列国的人，像列邦的各族一样去事奉木头和石头。你们心里所起的这意念，必不能成就。

耶和华这样说：“你们不要学习列国的行径，列国因天象惊惶，你们却不要因这些惊惶。

就要把所有的居民从你们面前赶出去，毁坏他们的一切雕像，以及一切铸像，又拆毁他们的一切邱坛。

所以，我要这样说，并且要在主里肯定地说：你们行事为人不要再像教外人，存着虚妄的意念。

我领他们到了我曾经举手起誓要赐给他们的那地，他们看见各高山和茂盛的树林，就在那里献祭，在那里奉上惹我发怒的供物，也在那里献上馨香的祭，并且在那里浇上他们的奠祭。’

他们没有照着耶和华吩咐他们的，灭绝外族的人民，反而和外族人混居杂处，学习他们的风俗习惯。他们又事奉外族人的偶像，这就成了他们的网罗。他们把自己的儿女祭祀鬼魔。他们流了无辜人的血，就是他们自己儿女的血，把他们祭祀迦南的偶像；那地就被血污秽了。

不要模仿这个世代，倒要藉着心意的更新而改变过来，使你们可以察验出什么是神的旨意，就是察验出什么是美好的、蒙他悦纳的和完全的事。

因为你们过去随从教外人的心意，行邪淫、私欲、醉酒、荒宴、狂饮和可憎拜偶像的事，时候已经够了。他们见你们不再与他们同奔那纵情放荡的路，就觉得奇怪，毁谤你们。

我要限定你的境界，从红海直到非利士海，从旷野直到大河。我要把那地的居民交在你手中，你要把他们从你面前驱逐出去。不可与他们和他们的神立约。不可让他们住在你的境内，恐怕他们使你得罪我；如果你事奉他们的神，这必成为你的网罗。”

你们从前住过的埃及地，那里的居民的行为，你们不可随从；我要领你们到的迦南地，那里的居民的行为，你们也不可仿效。你们不可跟随他们的风俗行。

你们不可与这地的居民立约，要拆毁他们的祭坛。’你们竟没有听从我的话；你们作的是什么呢？因此我又说：‘我必不把他们从你们面前赶走，他们要作你们的敌人（按照《马索拉文本》，“敌人”作“边旁”，意思不明确，或译﹕“网罗”﹔现参照各古译本翻译），他们的神要作你们的网罗。’”

厌弃他的律例和他与他们的祖先订立的约，以及他对他们的警戒；却信从虚无的神，自己成为虚妄，跟从他们周围的外族人，耶和华曾吩咐他们不可跟从他们的行为。
