為要把比你大比你強的民族，從你面前趕走，然後領你進去，把他們的地賜給你作產業，像今日一樣。

“以色列啊，你要聽，你今日快要過約旦河，進去趕出比你又大又強的列國，佔領堅固、高得頂天的城市。

耶和華你的神必把這些國的民，從你面前漸漸趕出去；你不可以把他們迅速地滅盡，恐怕田間的野獸多起來害你。耶和華你的神必把他們交在你面前，使他們大起擾亂，直到他們全被消滅。

我今天吩咐你的，你務要遵守。看哪，我要把亞摩利人、迦南人、赫人、比利洗人、希未人、耶布斯人，從你面前趕逐出去。

我必在你面前展露我的威嚴；凡你所到的地方，我必使那裡的人民慌亂，又使你所有的仇敵都轉背而逃。我必在你面前打發大黃蜂，把希未人、迦南人、赫人，都從你面前驅逐出去。我不在一年之內把他們從你面前驅逐出去，恐怕這地變為荒涼，又恐怕田野間的走獸多起來害你。我要漸漸地把他們從你面前驅逐出去，等到你的人數增多起來，承受那地為止。

你進去取得他們的地，並不是因著你的義，也不是因著你心裡的正直，而是因著這些國的民的惡，耶和華你的神才把他們從你面前趕出去，為要實踐他向你的列祖亞伯拉罕、以撒、雅各，起誓應許的話。

“耶和華你的神領你進入你要去得為業的地，從你面前趕走許多民族，就是赫人、革迦撒人、亞摩利人、迦南人、比利洗人、希未人、耶布斯人，共七個比你又大又強的民族。耶和華你的神把他們交給你，你打敗了他們的時候，你要完全毀滅他們，不可與他們立約，也不可恩待他們。
