And you are to love those who are foreigners, for you yourselves were foreigners in Egypt.

“ You must not exploit a foreign resident or oppress him, since you were foreigners in the land of Egypt.

“ When a foreigner lives with you in your land, you must not oppress him.You must regard the foreigner who lives with you as the native-born among you. You are to love him as yourself, for you were foreigners in the land of Egypt; I am Yahweh your God.

But love your enemies, do what is good, and lend, expecting nothing in return. Then your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High. For He is gracious to the ungrateful and evil.

If a brother or sister is without clothes and lacks daily foodand one of you says to them,“ Go in peace, keep warm, and eat well,” but you don’t give them what the body needs, what good is it?

“ You’ve answered correctly,” He told him.“ Do this and you will live.”But wanting to justify himself, he asked Jesus,“ And who is my neighbor?”Jesus took up the question and said:“ A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho and fell into the hands of robbers. They stripped him, beat him up, and fled, leaving him half dead.A priest happened to be going down that road. When he saw him, he passed by on the other side.In the same way, a Levite, when he arrived at the place and saw him, passed by on the other side.But a Samaritan on his journey came up to him, and when he saw the man, he had compassion.He went over to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on olive oil and wine. Then he put him on his own animal, brought him to an inn, and took care of him.The next day he took out two denarii, gave them to the innkeeper, and said,‘ Take care of him. When I come back I’ll reimburse you for whatever extra you spend.’“ Which of these three do you think proved to be a neighbor to the man who fell into the hands of the robbers?”“ The one who showed mercy to him,” he said. Then Jesus told him,“ Go and do the same.”

If anyone has this world’s goods and sees his brother in need but closes his eyes to his need— how can God’s love reside in him?Little children, we must not love with word or speech, but with truth and action.

Didn’t any return to give glory to God except this foreigner?”

Therefore, as we have opportunity, we must work for the good of all, especially for those who belong to the household of faith.
