“ Lord our God, you used your mighty hand to bring your people out of Egypt. You made a name for yourself. It is still great to this day. But we have sinned. We’ve done what is wrong.

And now, O Lord our God, who brought your people out of the land of Egypt with a mighty hand, and have made a name for yourself, as at this day, we have sinned, we have done wickedly.

“ O Lord our God, you brought lasting honor to your name by rescuing your people from Egypt in a great display of power. But we have sinned and are full of wickedness.

Now, Lord our God— who brought your people out of the land of Egypt with a strong hand and made your name renowned as it is this day— we have sinned, we have acted wickedly.

“ And now, Lord, our God, You who brought Your people out of the land of Egypt with a mighty hand and made a name for Yourself, as it is this day— we have sinned, we have been wicked.

And now, O Lord our God, who brought Your people out of the land of Egypt with a mighty hand, and made Yourself a name, as it is this day— we have sinned, we have done wickedly!

And now, O Lord our God, that hast brought thy people forth out of the land of Egypt with a mighty hand, and hast gotten thee renown, as at this day; we have sinned, we have done wickedly.

Now, Lord our God, who brought Your people out of the land of Egypt with a mighty hand and made Your name renowned as it is this day, we have sinned, we have acted wickedly.

“ Now, Lord our God, who has brought your people out of the land of Egypt with a mighty hand, and have gotten yourself renown, as it is today; we have sinned. We have done wickedly.

You sent signs and wonders against Pharaoh, against all his officials and all the people of his land, for you knew how arrogantly the Egyptians treated them. You made a name for yourself, which remains to this day.

The Egyptians will know that I am the Lord when I gain glory through Pharaoh, his chariots and his horsemen.”

But Moses sought the favor of the Lord his God.“ Lord,” he said,“ why should your anger burn against your people, whom you brought out of Egypt with great power and a mighty hand?

“ They are your servants and your people, whom you redeemed by your great strength and your mighty hand.

Then the Lord said to Moses,“ Now you will see what I will do to Pharaoh: Because of my mighty hand he will let them go; because of my mighty hand he will drive them out of his country.”

we have sinned and done wrong. We have been wicked and have rebelled; we have turned away from your commands and laws.

Instead of the thornbush will grow the juniper, and instead of briers the myrtle will grow. This will be for the Lord’s renown, for an everlasting sign, that will endure forever.”

You performed signs and wonders in Egypt and have continued them to this day, in Israel and among all mankind, and have gained the renown that is still yours.You brought your people Israel out of Egypt with signs and wonders, by a mighty hand and an outstretched arm and with great terror.You gave them this land you had sworn to give their ancestors, a land flowing with milk and honey.They came in and took possession of it, but they did not obey you or follow your law; they did not do what you commanded them to do. So you brought all this disaster on them.

“ The son said to him,‘ Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son.’

I signed and sealed the deed, had it witnessed, and weighed out the silver on the scales.

He has delivered us from such a deadly peril, and he will deliver us again. On him we have set our hope that he will continue to deliver us,

“ Therefore, say to the Israelites:‘ I am the Lord, and I will bring you out from under the yoke of the Egyptians. I will free you from being slaves to them, and I will redeem you with an outstretched arm and with mighty acts of judgment.

for they are your people and your inheritance, whom you brought out of Egypt, out of that iron-smelting furnace.

Then the Lord said to Moses,“ Tell the Israelites to turn back and encamp near Pi Hahiroth, between Migdol and the sea. They are to encamp by the sea, directly opposite Baal Zephon.Pharaoh will think,‘ The Israelites are wandering around the land in confusion, hemmed in by the desert.’And I will harden Pharaoh’s heart, and he will pursue them. But I will gain glory for myself through Pharaoh and all his army, and the Egyptians will know that I am the Lord.” So the Israelites did this.When the king of Egypt was told that the people had fled, Pharaoh and his officials changed their minds about them and said,“ What have we done? We have let the Israelites go and have lost their services!”So he had his chariot made ready and took his army with him.He took six hundred of the best chariots, along with all the other chariots of Egypt, with officers over all of them.The Lord hardened the heart of Pharaoh king of Egypt, so that he pursued the Israelites, who were marching out boldly.The Egyptians— all Pharaoh’s horses and chariots, horsemen and troops— pursued the Israelites and overtook them as they camped by the sea near Pi Hahiroth, opposite Baal Zephon.As Pharaoh approached, the Israelites looked up, and there were the Egyptians, marching after them. They were terrified and cried out to the Lord.They said to Moses,“ Was it because there were no graves in Egypt that you brought us to the desert to die? What have you done to us by bringing us out of Egypt?Didn’t we say to you in Egypt,‘ Leave us alone; let us serve the Egyptians’? It would have been better for us to serve the Egyptians than to die in the desert!Moses answered the people,“ Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the Lord will bring you today. The Egyptians you see today you will never see again.The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.”Then the Lord said to Moses,“ Why are you crying out to me? Tell the Israelites to move on.

But I have raised you up for this very purpose, that I might show you my power and that my name might be proclaimed in all the earth.

I will set out and go back to my father and say to him: Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you.I am no longer worthy to be called your son; make me like one of your hired servants.’

Yet he saved them for his name’s sake, to make his mighty power known.

“ But the tax collector stood at a distance. He would not even look up to heaven, but beat his breast and said,‘ God, have mercy on me, a sinner.’
