In my vision I saw myself in the citadel of Susa in the province of Elam; in the vision I was beside the Ulai Canal.

In my vision I saw myself in the city of Susa. It has high walls around it. It is in the land of Elam. In the vision I was beside the Ulai Canal.

In this vision I was at the fortress of Susa, in the province of Elam, standing beside the Ulai River.

I saw the vision, and as I watched, I was in the fortress city of Susa, in the province of Elam. I saw in the vision that I was beside the Ulai Canal.

I looked in the vision, and while I was looking, I was in the citadel of Susa, which is in the province of Elam; and I looked in the vision, and I myself was beside the Ulai Canal.

I saw in the vision, and it so happened while I was looking, that I was in Shushan, the citadel, which is in the province of Elam; and I saw in the vision that I was by the River Ulai.

The words of Nehemiah the son of Hacaliah. Now it happened in the month of Chislev, in the twentieth year, as I was in Susa the citadel,

in those days when King Ahasuerus sat on his royal throne in Susa, the citadel,

all the kings of Zimri, all the kings of Elam, and all the kings of Media;

In the days of Amraphel king of Shinar, Arioch king of Ellasar, Chedorlaomer king of Elam, and Tidal king of Goiim,

Daniel declared,“ I saw in my vision by night, and behold, the four winds of heaven were stirring up the great sea.

The Jews who were in Susa gathered also on the fourteenth day of the month of Adar and they killed 300 men in Susa, but they laid no hands on the plunder.

I raised my eyes and saw, and behold, a ram standing on the bank of the canal. It had two horns, and both horns were high, but one was higher than the other, and the higher one came up last.

Then Mordecai went out from the presence of the king in royal robes of blue and white, with a great golden crown and a robe of fine linen and purple, and the city of Susa shouted and rejoiced.

“ As for me, Daniel, my spirit within me was anxious, and the visions of my head alarmed me.

That very day the number of those killed in Susa the citadel was reported to the king.

The word of the Lord that came to Jeremiah the prophet concerning Elam, in the beginning of the reign of Zedekiah king of Judah.Thus says the Lord of hosts:“ Behold, I will break the bow of Elam, the mainstay of their might.And I will bring upon Elam the four winds from the four quarters of heaven. And I will scatter them to all those winds, and there shall be no nation to which those driven out of Elam shall not come.I will terrify Elam before their enemies and before those who seek their life. I will bring disaster upon them, my fierce anger, declares the Lord. I will send the sword after them, until I have consumed them,and I will set my throne in Elam and destroy their king and officials, declares the Lord.“ But in the latter days I will restore the fortunes of Elam, declares the Lord.”

And he said,“ Hear my words: If there is a prophet among you, I the Lord make myself known to him in a vision; I speak with him in a dream.

A stern vision is told to me; the traitor betrays, and the destroyer destroys. Go up, O Elam; lay siege, O Media; all the sighing she has caused I bring to an end.

In that day the Lord will extend his hand yet a second time to recover the remnant that remains of his people, from Assyria, from Egypt, from Pathros, from Cush, from Elam, from Shinar, from Hamath, and from the coastlands of the sea.

Long ago, at many times and in many ways, God spoke to our fathers by the prophets,

The couriers went out hurriedly by order of the king, and the decree was issued in Susa the citadel. And the king and Haman sat down to drink, but the city of Susa was thrown into confusion.

And Esther said,“ A foe and enemy! This wicked Haman!” Then Haman was terrified before the king and the queen.
