Because of the high position he gave him, all the nations and peoples of every language dreaded and feared him. Those the king wanted to put to death, he put to death; those he wanted to spare, he spared; those he wanted to promote, he promoted; and those he wanted to humble, he humbled.

God gave him a high position. Then people from every nation became afraid of the king. That was true no matter what language they spoke. The king put to death anyone he wanted to. He spared anyone he wanted to spare. He gave high positions to anyone he wanted to. And he brought down anyone he wanted to bring down.

And because of the greatness that he gave him, all peoples, nations, and languages trembled and feared before him. Whom he would, he killed, and whom he would, he kept alive; whom he would, he raised up, and whom he would, he humbled.

He made him so great that people of all races and nations and languages trembled before him in fear. He killed those he wanted to kill and spared those he wanted to spare. He honored those he wanted to honor and disgraced those he wanted to disgrace.

Because of the greatness he gave him, all peoples, nations, and languages were terrified and fearful of him. He killed anyone he wanted and kept alive anyone he wanted; he exalted anyone he wanted and humbled anyone he wanted.

Now because of the greatness which He granted him, all the peoples, nations, and populations of all languages trembled and feared in his presence; whomever he wished, he killed, and whomever he wished, he spared alive; and whomever he wished he elevated, and whomever he wished he humbled.

And because of the majesty that He gave him, all peoples, nations, and languages trembled and feared before him. Whomever he wished, he executed; whomever he wished, he kept alive; whomever he wished, he set up; and whomever he wished, he put down.

凡不俯伏下拜的、就必須即刻被扔在烈火燃燒着的窰中。』

為了這個緣故、王就生氣，大大震怒，便吩咐將巴比倫所有的博士都除滅掉。於是有指令發出，要博士都被殺掉。人就尋找但以理和他的同伴，要給殺死。

那時傳令官使勁地喊着說：『各族之民、列國之民、各種方言的人哪，現在有命令傳與你們：

又吩咐他軍隊中幾個有經驗的勇士將沙得拉、米煞、亞伯尼歌捆起來，扔在烈火燃燒着的窰中。這三人是穿戴着外衣、褲子、裹頭巾、和別的衣服被捆起來，扔在烈火燃燒着的窰中的。

現在我下諭旨：任何族民、任何邦國之民、任何方言的人：凡說了怠慢的話冒瀆沙得拉、米煞、亞伯尼歌之上帝的，就必須被凌遲；他的房屋必須被拆毁；因為沒有別的神能這樣施救援的。

王的烈怒乃死亡之使者；但智慧人能平息王怒。

你就看吧，我一定要差遣人去徵取北方的眾族，永恆主發神諭說，我必差遣人去見我的僕人、巴比倫王尼布甲尼撒，引他們來攻擊這地和這地的居民，以及四圍這些列國；我必把他們盡行毁滅歸神，使他們成了令人驚駭、令人嗤笑、永被羞辱的對象。我也必使歡躍的聲音和喜樂的聲音、新郎的聲音和新婦的聲音、推磨的聲音和燈的亮光、從他們中間都息滅掉。這一帶全地都必變成荒涼，成了令人驚駭的對象；這些國的人必服事巴比倫王七十年。『七十年滿了以後，永恆主發神諭說，我必察罰巴比倫王以及那國，我必鑒察他們的罪孽，察罰迦勒底人之地，使它永遠荒涼。我必使我一切的話，就是我所說攻擊那地的話，舉凡所記在這書上的，都應驗到那地。因為有許多國許多大王都要使迦勒底人做奴隸；我必照他們的行為、按他們的手所作的來報應他們。』

還有呢、那詭詐的有禍啊！那倨傲的人、他必不得安居：他擴大其所慾像陰間，他好像死亡永不滿足；聚集列國人都歸自己，收拾萬族之民到他那裏。』

耶穌回答說：『若不是從上頭給了你，你就毫無權柄辦我；故此那把我送交給你的、犯了更大的罪。』

王啊，這直長起來，而長得很堅強的就是你。你的強大直增強着，強到頂天，你的權柄管到地極。

『是我用大能力和伸出的膀臂造了大地和地面上的人及牲口；我看誰適當，就把地給誰。現在呢、是我將這些都交給我僕人巴比倫王尼布甲尼撒的手；田野間的走獸呢、我也給他、供他使用。列國都必服事他和他的兒子、孫子，直到他本國之地——甚至是他本人——遭報的時期來到；那時許多國許多大王都必使他做奴僕。

居上位有政權的、人人都當順服。因為沒有政權不是出於上帝的：一切政權都由上帝所定。
