於是這但以理，因有非常高超之靈在他裏頭，他便出類拔萃於眾總長和總督之上；王就想要立他來管理全國。

太監長給他們起了名，把但以理叫做伯提沙撒，把哈拿尼雅叫做沙得拉，把米沙利叫做米煞，把亞撒利雅叫做亞伯尼歌。

但是我聽到了你的事了，聽說你善於解析，能解難題的結。現在你若能讀這文字，把解析告訴我，就可以穿上紫紅色袍，脖子上戴金鍊，在國中掌權、居第三位。』

於是那名叫伯提沙撒的但以理一時愕然，他的思想使他驚惶。王應時說：『伯提沙撒啊，不要讓夢和夢的解析使你驚惶。』伯提沙撒回答說：『我主啊，願這夢歸與恨惡你的人，而其解析歸與你的敵人。

為了這事、我並且勞苦，照他以大能力在我身上所運用的動力而奮鬥着。
