“ Upon hearing this, Daniel( also known as Belteshazzar) was overcome for a time, frightened by the meaning of the dream. Then the king said to him,‘ Belteshazzar, don’t be alarmed by the dream and what it means.’“ Belteshazzar replied,‘ I wish the events foreshadowed in this dream would happen to your enemies, my lord, and not to you!

于是那称为伯提沙撒的但以理惊愕片时，他想到的事使他惊惶。王对他说：“伯提沙撒啊！别让这梦和梦的意思使你惊惶。”伯提沙撒回答说：“我主啊！愿这梦归给憎恨你的人，梦的意思归给你的敌人。

那时，称为伯提沙撒的但以理一阵惊恐，他的意念使他惶恐。王就开口说：“伯提沙撒啊，不要让这梦和梦的释义使你惶恐！”伯提沙撒回应说：“我主啊，愿这梦归于那些恨恶你的人，愿梦的释义归于你的敌人！

但以理亦名伯底沙撒、一聞我言、不覺驚駭竟晷、中心鬱陶、余曰、伯底沙撒勿為余夢及兆、鬱伊不止、對曰、願此夢之兆、應於敵人、勿為王躬之咎、

稱伯提沙撒之但以理、一聞我言、驚訝片時、中心惶恐、我尼布甲尼撒王曰、伯提沙撒、勿為夢與夢兆惶恐、伯提沙撒曰、我主、願其夢應於王之仇、願其兆驗驗或作臨於王之敵、

Then Daniel( also called Belteshazzar) was greatly perplexed for a time, and his thoughts terrified him. So the king said,“ Belteshazzar, do not let the dream or its meaning alarm you.” Belteshazzar answered,“ My lord, if only the dream applied to your enemies and its meaning to your adversaries!

Daniel, who was also called Belteshazzar, was very bewildered for a while. His thoughts terrified him. So the king said,“ Belteshazzar, don’t let the dream or its meaning make you afraid.” Belteshazzar answered,“ My master, I wish the dream were about your enemies! I wish its meaning had to do with them!

Then Daniel, whose name was Belteshazzar, was dismayed for a while, and his thoughts alarmed him. The king answered and said,“ Belteshazzar, let not the dream or the interpretation alarm you.” Belteshazzar answered and said,“ My lord, may the dream be for those who hate you and its interpretation for your enemies!

Then Daniel, whose name is Belteshazzar, was stunned for a moment, and his thoughts alarmed him. The king said,“ Belteshazzar, don’t let the dream or its interpretation alarm you.” Belteshazzar answered,“ My lord, may the dream apply to those who hate you, and its interpretation to your enemies!

“ Then Daniel, whose name is Belteshazzar, was appalled for a while as his thoughts alarmed him. The king responded and said,‘ Belteshazzar, do not let the dream or its interpretation alarm you.’ Belteshazzar replied,‘ My lord, if only the dream applied to those who hate you, and its interpretation to your adversaries!

Then Daniel, whose name was Belteshazzar, was astonished for a time, and his thoughts troubled him. So the king spoke, and said,“ Belteshazzar, do not let the dream or its interpretation trouble you.” Belteshazzar answered and said,“ My Lord, may the dream concern those who hate you, and its interpretation concern your enemies!

Then Daniel, whose name was Belteshazzar, was stricken dumb for a while, and his thoughts troubled him. The king answered and said, Belteshazzar, let not the dream, or the interpretation, trouble thee. Belteshazzar answered and said, My lord, the dream be to them that hate thee, and the interpretation thereof to thine adversaries.

Then Daniel, whose name is Belteshazzar, was stunned for a moment, and his thoughts alarmed him. The king said,“ Belteshazzar, don’t let the dream or its interpretation alarm you.” Belteshazzar answered,“ My lord, may the dream apply to those who hate you, and its interpretation to your enemies!

Then Daniel, whose name[ was] Belteshazzar, was astonied for one hour, and his thoughts troubled him. The king spake, and said, Belteshazzar, let not the dream, or the interpretation thereof, trouble thee. Belteshazzar answered and said, My lord, the dream[ be] to them that hate thee, and the interpretation thereof to thine enemies.

Then Daniel( whose name is also Belteshazzar) was upset for a brief time; his thoughts were alarming him. The king said,“ Belteshazzar, don’t let the dream and its interpretation alarm you.” But Belteshazzar replied,“ Sir, if only the dream were for your enemies and its interpretation applied to your adversaries!

Then Daniel, whose name was Belteshazzar, was stricken mute for a while, and his thoughts troubled him. The king answered,“ Belteshazzar, don’t let the dream, or the interpretation, trouble you.” Belteshazzar answered,“ My lord, may the dream be for those who hate you, and its interpretation to your adversaries.

Then I, Daniel, was overcome and lay sick for several days. Afterward I got up and performed my duties for the king, but I was greatly troubled by the vision and could not understand it.

That was the end of the vision. I, Daniel, was terrified by my thoughts and my face was pale with fear, but I kept these things to myself.

Then the one who looked like a man touched my lips, and I opened my mouth and began to speak. I said to the one standing in front of me,“ I am filled with anguish because of the vision I have seen, my lord, and I am very weak.How can someone like me, your servant, talk to you, my lord? My strength is gone, and I can hardly breathe.”

“‘ This is what the dream means, Your Majesty, and what the Most High has declared will happen to my lord the king.

“ What did the Lord say to you? Tell me everything. And may God strike you and even kill you if you hide anything from me!”

Then the man from Ethiopia arrived and said,“ I have good news for my lord the king. Today the Lord has rescued you from all those who rebelled against you.”“ What about young Absalom?” the king demanded.“ Is he all right?” And the Ethiopian replied,“ May all of your enemies, my lord the king, both now and in the future, share the fate of that young man!”

“ I, Nebuchadnezzar, was living in my palace in comfort and prosperity.But one night I had a dream that frightened me; I saw visions that terrified me as I lay in my bed.

My heart, my heart— I writhe in pain! My heart pounds within me! I cannot be still. For I have heard the blast of enemy trumpets and the roar of their battle cries.

As Obadiah was walking along, he suddenly saw Elijah coming toward him. Obadiah recognized him at once and bowed low to the ground before him.“ Is it really you, my lord Elijah?” he asked.

The king said to Daniel( also known as Belteshazzar),“ Is this true? Can you tell me what my dream was and what it means?”

I, Daniel, was troubled by all I had seen, and my visions terrified me.

David came out and shouted after him,“ My lord the king!” And when Saul looked around, David bowed low before him.

At last Daniel came in before me, and I told him the dream.( He was named Belteshazzar after my god, and the spirit of the holy gods is in him.)“ I said to him,‘ Belteshazzar, chief of the magicians, I know that the spirit of the holy gods is in you and that no mystery is too great for you to solve. Now tell me what my dream means.

The chief of staff renamed them with these Babylonian names: Daniel was called Belteshazzar. Hananiah was called Shadrach. Mishael was called Meshach. Azariah was called Abednego.

But now, if you will only forgive their sin— but if not, erase my name from the record you have written!”

And work for the peace and prosperity of the city where I sent you into exile. Pray to the Lord for it, for its welfare will determine your welfare.”

He told them,“ Give this message to my master Esau:‘ Humble greetings from your servant Jacob. Until now I have been living with Uncle Laban,and now I own cattle, donkeys, flocks of sheep and goats, and many servants, both men and women. I have sent these messengers to inform my lord of my coming, hoping that you will be friendly to me.’”

This man Daniel, whom the king named Belteshazzar, has exceptional ability and is filled with divine knowledge and understanding. He can interpret dreams, explain riddles, and solve difficult problems. Call for Daniel, and he will tell you what the writing means.”

“ Well, Abner, you’re a great man, aren’t you?” David taunted.“ Where in all Israel is there anyone as mighty? So why haven’t you guarded your master the king when someone came to kill him?

The mountains watched and trembled. Onward swept the raging waters. The mighty deep cried out, lifting its hands in submission.

she said to her father,“ Please, sir, forgive me if I don’t get up for you. I’m having my monthly period.” So Laban continued his search, but he could not find the household idols.

You must reply,‘ They belong to your servant Jacob, but they are a gift for his master Esau. Look, he is coming right behind us.’”

“ Oh no, sir!” she replied.“ I haven’t been drinking wine or anything stronger. But I am very discouraged, and I was pouring out my heart to the Lord.
