大聲召諸博士、太史、卜師、巴比倫哲士咸至、王告之曰、有能讀斯文字、解其義者、身衣緋衣、項繫金索、為國之相、職居其三、

王於是尊崇但以理、加以重賚、封為巴比倫方伯、眾哲士長、

伯沙撒大賚但以理、以緋衣被其身、以金索繫其項、更頒詔、命發國相、職居其三、

摩押、米田長老、攜卜筮之值、往見巴蘭、以巴勒之言告之。

我聞爾善解秘奧、釋疑竇、爾果能讀斯文、解斯義、則必身衣緋衣、項繫金索、為國之相、職居其三、但以理曰、大賚我所不取、爾賞可畀他人、我必讀斯文、而解其義、

巴勒謂巴蘭曰、我遣使召爾、爾曷不至、我豈不能以尊顯加爾。

爾盍速返故國、我意使爾得大榮、而耶和華不許。

我將使爾尊顯、凡爾所言、我必依行、請爾至國、以詛斯民焉。
