All the sinners among my people who say,“ Disaster will never overtake or confront us,” will die by the sword.

All the sinners among my people will die by the sword, all those who say,‘ Disaster will not overtake or meet us.’

All the sinners among my people will be killed by swords. They say,‘ Nothing bad will ever happen to us.’

All the sinners of my people shall die by the sword, who say,‘ Disaster shall not overtake or meet us.’

But all the sinners will die by the sword— all those who say,‘ Nothing bad will happen to us.’

All the sinners of My people will die by the sword, Those who say,‘ The catastrophe will not overtake or confront us.’

All the sinners of My people shall die by the sword, Who say,‘ The calamity shall not overtake nor confront us.’

All the sinners of my people shall die by the sword, who say, The evil shall not overtake nor meet us.

All the sinners among My people who say:“ Disaster will never overtake or confront us,” will die by the sword.

All the sinners of my people shall die by the sword, which say, The evil shall not overtake nor prevent us.

All the sinners among my people will die by the sword– the ones who say,‘ Disaster will not come near, it will not confront us.’

You dismiss any thought of the evil day and bring in a reign of violence.

The sinners in Zion are afraid; trembling seizes the ungodly:“ Who among us can dwell with a consuming fire? Who among us can dwell with ever-burning flames?”

The ax is already at the root of the trees. Therefore, every tree that doesn’t produce good fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire.“ I baptize you with water for repentance, but the one who is coming after me is more powerful than I. I am not worthy to remove his sandals. He himself will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.His winnowing shovel is in his hand, and he will clear his threshing floor and gather his wheat into the barn. But the chaff he will burn with fire that never goes out.”

So it will be at the end of the age. The angels will go out, separate the evil people from the righteous,and throw them into the blazing furnace, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

He says to himself,“ God has forgotten; he hides his face and will never see.”

Woe to those who are at ease in Zion and to those who feel secure on the hill of Samaria— the notable people in this first of the nations, those the house of Israel comes to.

I will seek the lost, bring back the strays, bandage the injured, and strengthen the weak, but I will destroy the fat and the strong. I will shepherd them with justice.“‘ As for you, my flock, the Lord GOD says this: Look, I am going to judge between one sheep and another, between the rams and goats.

“ For look, the day is coming, burning like a furnace, when all the arrogant and everyone who commits wickedness will become stubble. The coming day will consume them,” says the LORD of Armies,“ not leaving them root or branches.

I will purge you of those who rebel and transgress against me. I will bring them out of the land where they live as foreign residents, but they will not enter the land of Israel. Then you will know that I am the LORD.

So now we consider the arrogant to be fortunate. Not only do those who commit wickedness prosper, they even test God and escape.”

“ Come, let me get some wine, let’s guzzle some beer; and tomorrow will be like today, only far better!”

Then certain ones said,“ Come, let’s make plans against Jeremiah, for instruction will never be lost from the priest, or counsel from the wise, or a word from the prophet. Come, let’s denounce him and pay no attention to all his words.”

to those who say,“ Let him hurry up and do his work quickly so that we can see it! Let the plan of the Holy One of Israel take place so that we can know it!”

Because the sentence against an evil act is not carried out quickly, the heart of people is filled with the desire to commit evil.

The Son of Man will send out his angels, and they will gather from his kingdom all who cause sin and those guilty of lawlessness.They will throw them into the blazing furnace where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

On that day you will not be put to shame because of everything you have done in rebelling against me. For then I will remove from among you your jubilant, arrogant people, and you will never again be haughty on my holy mountain.I will leave a meek and humble people among you, and they will take refuge in the name of the LORD.The remnant of Israel will no longer do wrong or tell lies; a deceitful tongue will not be found in their mouths. They will pasture and lie down, with nothing to make them afraid.

Therefore hear the word of the LORD, you scoffers who rule this people in Jerusalem.For you said,“ We have made a covenant with Death, and we have an agreement with Sheol; when the overwhelming catastrophe passes through, it will not touch us, because we have made falsehood our refuge and have hidden behind treachery.”

In the whole land— this is the LORD’s declaration— two-thirds will be cut off and die, but a third will be left in it.I will put this third through the fire; I will refine them as silver is refined and test them as gold is tested. They will call on my name, and I will answer them. I will say,‘ They are my people,’ and they will say,‘ The LORD is our God.’”

But who can endure the day of his coming? And who will be able to stand when he appears? For he will be like a refiner’s fire and like launderer’s bleach.He will be like a refiner and purifier of silver; he will purify the sons of Levi and refine them like gold and silver. Then they will present offerings to the LORD in righteousness.And the offerings of Judah and Jerusalem will please the LORD as in days of old and years gone by.“ I will come to you in judgment, and I will be ready to witness against sorcerers and adulterers; against those who swear falsely; against those who oppress the hired worker, the widow, and the fatherless; and against those who deny justice to the resident alien. They do not fear me,” says the LORD of Armies.
