And the Lord asked me,“ What do you see, Amos?”“ A plumb line,” I replied. Then the Lord said,“ Look, I am setting a plumb line among my people Israel; I will spare them no longer.

And Jehovah said unto me, Amos, what seest thou? And I said, A plumb- line. Then said the Lord, Behold, I will set a plumb- line in the midst of my people Israel; I will not again pass by them any more;

Yahweh said to me,“ Amos, what do you see?” I said,“ A plumb line.” Then the Lord said,“ Behold, I will set a plumb line in the middle of my people Israel. I will not again pass by them any more.

耶和華問我：「阿摩司，你看見什麼？」我說：「我看見一籃夏天的果子。」祂說：「我以色列子民的結局到了，我不會再饒恕他們。

耶和華決意拆毀錫安的城牆，祂拉了準線，定意毀滅，決不停止。祂使城牆和壁壘一同悲哀哭泣。

「人子啊，主耶和華對以色列這樣說，『結局到了，以色列全境的結局到了！以色列，你的結局到了，我的怒氣必傾倒在你身上，我必按你的行為審判你，照你的一切惡行報應你。我必不顧惜你，也不憐憫你，我必按你的惡行報應你。這樣，你必知道我是耶和華。』」主耶和華說：「看啊，災禍來了，一場空前的災禍來了！結局到了，結局到了，你的結局到了！以色列境內的居民啊，惡運降臨了！時候已到，日子已近，山上一片恐慌，歡樂蕩然無存。我快要向你傾倒我的烈怒，發出我的怒氣。我必按你的行為審判你，照你一切的惡行報應你。我必不顧惜你，也不憐憫你，我必按你的惡行報應你。這樣，你就知道懲罰你的是我耶和華。

你背棄我，遠離我，因此我要伸手攻擊你，毀滅你，不再憐憫你。這是耶和華說的。

我必以公平為準繩，以公義作線錘。冰雹必砸碎你們虛謊的庇護所，洪水必淹沒你們的藏身處。

我要像懲罰撒瑪利亞和亞哈家一樣懲罰耶路撒冷。我要潔淨耶路撒冷，就像人擦淨盤子後倒扣過來。

祂必用滔滔洪水滅絕祂的敵人，把他們驅逐到黑暗中。尼尼微人啊，你們為何圖謀抵擋耶和華？祂要徹底毀滅你們，無需擊打兩次。

耶和華又對我說：「耶利米，你看見什麼？」我說：「我看見一根杏樹枝。」耶和華說：「不錯。我必實現我說過的話。」耶和華又對我說：「你看見什麼？」我回答說：「我看見一鍋煮沸的水，從北方傾倒下來。」

天使問我：「你看見什麼？」我說：「我看見飛行的書卷，長十米，寬五米。」

有何神明像你一樣赦免罪惡，饒恕你倖存子民的過犯？你不會永遠發怒，因為你樂於施恩。
