But the Lord called me away from my flock and told me,‘ Go and prophesy to my people in Israel.’

But the Lord took me from tending the flock and said to me,‘ Go, prophesy to my people Israel.’

But the Lord took me away from taking care of the flock. He said to me,‘ Go. Prophesy to my people Israel.’

But the Lord took me from following the flock, and the Lord said to me,‘ Go, prophesy to my people Israel.’

But the LORD took me from following the flock and said to me,‘ Go, prophesy to my people Israel.’”

Then the Lord took me as I followed the flock, And the Lord said to me,‘ Go, prophesy to My people Israel.’

and Jehovah took me from following the flock, and Jehovah said unto me, Go, prophesy unto my people Israel.

And the LORD took me as I followed the flock, and the LORD said unto me, Go, prophesy unto my people Israel.

Then the LORD took me from tending flocks and gave me this commission,‘ Go! Prophesy to my people Israel!’

and Yahweh took me from following the flock, and Yahweh said to me,‘ Go, prophesy to my people Israel.’

“ Now go and say to my servant David,‘ This is what the Lord of Heaven’s Armies has declared: I took you from tending sheep in the pasture and selected you to be the leader of my people Israel.

“ Son of man,” he said,“ I am sending you to the nation of Israel, a rebellious nation that has rebelled against me. They and their ancestors have been rebelling against me to this very day.They are a stubborn and hard hearted people. But I am sending you to say to them,‘ This is what the Sovereign Lord says!’

The Lord replied,“ Don’t say,‘ I’m too young,’ for you must go wherever I send you and say whatever I tell you.

But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere— in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

He chose his servant David, calling him from the sheep pens.He took David from tending the ewes and lambs and made him the shepherd of Jacob’s descendants— God’s own people, Israel.He cared for them with a true heart and led them with skillful hands.

One day as Jesus was walking along the shore of the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers— Simon, also called Peter, and Andrew— throwing a net into the water, for they fished for a living.Jesus called out to them,“ Come, follow me, and I will show you how to fish for people!”

And he said,“ Yes, it was written long ago that the Messiah would suffer and die and rise from the dead on the third day.It was also written that this message would be proclaimed in the authority of his name to all the nations, beginning in Jerusalem:‘ There is forgiveness of sins for all who repent.’You are witnesses of all these things.

“ Go to the Temple and give the people this message of life!”

But Peter and the apostles replied,“ We must obey God rather than any human authority.The God of our ancestors raised Jesus from the dead after you killed him by hanging him on a cross.Then God put him in the place of honor at his right hand as Prince and Savior. He did this so the people of Israel would repent of their sins and be forgiven.We are witnesses of these things and so is the Holy Spirit, who is given by God to those who obey him.”

As Jesus was walking along, he saw a man named Matthew sitting at his tax collector’s booth.“ Follow me and be my disciple,” Jesus said to him. So Matthew got up and followed him.

We cannot stop telling about everything we have seen and heard.”
