Then Amaziah the priest of Bethel sent a message to Jeroboam king of Israel:“ Amos is raising a conspiracy against you in the very heart of Israel. The land cannot bear all his words.

Amaziah was priest of Bethel. He sent a message to Jeroboam, the king of Israel. He said,“ Amos is making evil plans against you right here in Israel. The people in the land can’t stand to listen to what he’s saying.

Then Amaziah the priest of Bethel sent to Jeroboam king of Israel, saying,“ Amos has conspired against you in the midst of the house of Israel. The land is not able to bear all his words.

Then Amaziah, the priest of Bethel, sent a message to Jeroboam, king of Israel:“ Amos is hatching a plot against you right here on your very doorstep! What he is saying is intolerable.

Amaziah the priest of Bethel sent word to King Jeroboam of Israel, saying,“ Amos has conspired against you right here in the house of Israel. The land cannot endure all his words,

Then Amaziah the priest of Beth- el sent to Jeroboam king of Israel, saying, Amos hath conspired against thee in the midst of the house of Israel: the land is not able to bear all his words.

Amaziah the priest of Bethel sent this message to King Jeroboam of Israel:“ Amos is conspiring against you in the very heart of the kingdom of Israel! The land cannot endure all his prophecies.

Then Amaziah the priest of Bethel sent to Jeroboam king of Israel, saying,“ Amos has conspired against you in the middle of the house of Israel. The land is not able to bear all his words.

於是官長們對王說：「求你把這人處死，因他向城裏剩下的士兵和眾人說這樣的話，使他們的手發軟。這人不是為這百姓求平安，而是叫他們受災禍。」

耶利米說完了耶和華吩咐他對眾百姓說的一切話，祭司、先知與眾百姓都來抓住他，說：「你該死！你為何假借耶和華的名預言，說這殿必如示羅，這城必荒廢無人居住呢？」於是眾百姓都聚集在耶和華的殿中圍住耶利米。猶大的官長們聽見這些事，就從王宮上到耶和華的殿，坐在耶和華殿新門的入口。祭司、先知對官長和眾百姓說：「這人該死，因為他說預言攻擊這城，正如你們親耳聽見的。」

耶羅波安在一些丘壇建神殿，立不屬利未人的平民百姓為祭司。耶羅波安定八月十五日為節期，像在猶大的節期一樣，自己上壇獻祭。他在伯特利這樣做，向他所鑄的牛犢獻祭，又把他所立丘壇的祭司安置在伯特利。

約阿施的兒子猶大王亞瑪謝第十五年，以色列王約阿施的兒子耶羅波安在撒瑪利亞登基，作王四十一年。他行耶和華眼中看為惡的事，不離開尼八的兒子耶羅波安使以色列陷入罪裏的一切罪。

這事以後，耶羅波安仍不離開他的惡道，立平民百姓為丘壇的祭司；凡願意的，他都分別為聖，立為丘壇的祭司。

『耶和華已經立你西番雅為祭司，代替耶何耶大祭司，使耶和華的殿中有總管，好把所有狂妄自稱先知的人用枷枷住，用鎖鎖住。現在亞拿突人耶利米向你們自稱先知，你為甚麼不責備他呢？

眾人聽見這些話，心中極其惱怒，向司提反咬牙切齒。

他到了便雅憫門，那裏的守門官名叫伊利雅，是哈拿尼亞的孫子，示利米雅的兒子，他逮捕耶利米先知，說：「你是去投降迦勒底人的！」耶利米說：「你這是謊話，我並不是去投降迦勒底人。」伊利雅不聽耶利米的話，就逮捕他，把他帶到官長那裏。官長們惱怒耶利米，打了他，把他囚在約拿單文士的房屋中，因為他們把這屋子當作監牢。

他們開始控告他說：「我們見這人煽惑我們的國民，禁止我們納稅給凱撒，並說自己是基督，是王。」

音麥的兒子巴施戶珥祭司作耶和華殿的總管，聽見耶利米預言這些事，就打耶利米先知，用耶和華殿裏上便雅憫門內的枷鎖，把他鎖在那裏。次日，巴施戶珥開枷釋放耶利米。於是耶利米對他說：「耶和華不叫你的名為巴施戶珥，而叫你瑪歌珥‧米撒畢，

耶穌進了聖殿，正教導人的時候，祭司長和百姓的長老來問他：「你仗着甚麼權柄做這些事？給你這權柄的是誰呢？」

我們看這個人如同瘟疫一般，是鼓動普天下所有的猶太人作亂的人，又是拿撒勒教派裏的一個頭目。

他們說：「來吧！讓我們設計謀害耶利米；因為我們有祭司講律法，有智慧人設謀略，有先知說預言，都未曾斷絕。來吧！讓我們用舌頭攻擊他，不要理他一切的話。」

說：「我們不是嚴嚴地禁止你們，不可奉這名教導人嗎？看，你們倒把你們的道理充滿了耶路撒冷，想要叫這人的血歸到我們身上！」

亞哈見了以利亞，就說：「真的是你嗎？你這使以色列遭殃的人！」

「現在你們說要抗拒大衛子孫手下所治理的耶和華的國，你們的人數眾多，你們那裏又有耶羅波安為你們所造當作神明的金牛犢。你們不是驅逐耶和華的祭司亞倫的後裔和利未人嗎？不是照着外邦人的惡俗為自己立祭司嗎？無論何人牽一頭公牛犢、七隻公綿羊將自己分別出來，就可作虛無神明的祭司。

他的哥哥們對他說：「難道你真的要作我們的王嗎？難道你真的要統治我們嗎？」他們就因他的夢和他的話更加恨他。
