“ They do not know how to do right,” declares the Lord,“ who store up in their fortresses what they have plundered and looted.”

“ They do not know how to do what is right,” announces the Lord.“ They store up stolen goods in their forts.”

“ They do not know how to do right,” declares the Lord,“ those who store up violence and robbery in their strongholds.”

“ My people have forgotten how to do right,” says the Lord.“ Their fortresses are filled with wealth taken by theft and violence.

The people are incapable of doing right— this is the LORD’s declaration— those who store up violence and destruction in their citadels.

But they do not know how to do what is right,” declares the Lord,“ these who store up violence and devastation in their citadels.”

For they do not know to do right,’ Says the Lord,‘ Who store up violence and robbery in their palaces.’”

“ Indeed they don’t know to do right,” says Yahweh,“ Who hoard plunder and loot in their palaces.”

The LORD answered,“ This will happen because my people are foolish. They do not know me. They are like children who have no sense. They have no understanding. They are skilled at doing evil. They do not know how to do good.”

On that day I will punish all who leap over the threshold, who fill the house of their master with wealth taken by violence and deceit.

All those who behave wickedly do not understand– those who devour my people as if they were eating bread, and do not call out to the LORD.

The speaker went on to say,“ This is a curse traveling across the whole earth. For example, according to the curse whoever steals will be removed from the community; or on the other hand( according to the curse) whoever swears falsely will suffer the same fate.”“ I will send it out,” says the LORD who rules over all,“ and it will enter the house of the thief and of the person who swears falsely in my name. It will land in the middle of his house and destroy both timber and stones.”

For they deliberately suppress this fact, that by the word of God heavens existed long ago and an earth was formed out of water and by means of water.

I thought,“ Surely it is only the ignorant poor who act this way. They act like fools because they do not know what the LORD demands. They do not know what their God requires of them.

The Israelites turn justice into bitterness; they throw what is fair and right to the ground.

Can horses run on rocky cliffs? Can one plow the sea with oxen? Yet you have turned justice into a poisonous plant, and the fruit of righteous actions into a bitter plant.

Your gold and silver have rusted and their rust will be a witness against you. It will consume your flesh like fire. It is in the last days that you have hoarded treasure!Look, the pay you have held back from the workers who mowed your fields cries out against you, and the cries of the reapers have reached the ears of the Lord of hosts.

Because you robbed many countries, all who are left among the nations will rob you. You have shed human blood and committed violent acts against lands, cities, and those who live in them.The one who builds his house by unjust gain is as good as dead. He does this so he can build his nest way up high and escape the clutches of disaster.Your schemes will bring shame to your house. Because you destroyed many nations, you will self-destruct.For the stones in the walls will cry out, and the wooden rafters will answer back.
