But as the believers rapidly multiplied, there were rumblings of discontent. The Greek speaking believers complained about the Hebrew speaking believers, saying that their widows were being discriminated against in the daily distribution of food.

I have traveled on many long journeys. I have faced danger from rivers and from robbers. I have faced danger from my own people, the Jews, as well as from the Gentiles. I have faced danger in the cities, in the deserts, and on the seas. And I have faced danger from men who claim to be believers but are not.

However, some of the believers who went to Antioch from Cyprus and Cyrene began preaching to the Gentiles about the Lord Jesus.

They stopped first at the port of Ephesus, where Paul left the others behind. While he was there, he went to the synagogue to reason with the Jews.

But one day some men from the Synagogue of Freed Slaves, as it was called, started to debate with him. They were Jews from Cyrene, Alexandria, Cilicia, and the province of Asia.None of them could stand against the wisdom and the Spirit with which Stephen spoke.

And immediately he began preaching about Jesus in the synagogues, saying,“ He is indeed the Son of God!”All who heard him were amazed.“ Isn’t this the same man who caused such devastation among Jesus’ followers in Jerusalem?” they asked.“ And didn’t he come here to arrest them and take them in chains to the leading priests?”Saul’s preaching became more and more powerful, and the Jews in Damascus couldn’t refute his proofs that Jesus was indeed the Messiah.After a while some of the Jews plotted together to kill him.

Then Barnabas brought him to the apostles and told them how Saul had seen the Lord on the way to Damascus and how the Lord had spoken to Saul. He also told them that Saul had preached boldly in the name of Jesus in Damascus.

He went to the synagogue to reason with the Jews and the God fearing Gentiles, and he spoke daily in the public square to all who happened to be there.

Then Paul went to the synagogue and preached boldly for the next three months, arguing persuasively about the Kingdom of God.

But even Michael, one of the mightiest of the angels, did not dare accuse the devil of blasphemy, but simply said,“ The Lord rebuke you!”( This took place when Michael was arguing with the devil about Moses’ body.)

Dear friends, I had been eagerly planning to write to you about the salvation we all share. But now I find that I must write about something else, urging you to defend the faith that God has entrusted once for all time to his holy people.
