但有一件事我要向你承认，他们所称为异端的这道，我正是根据这道来敬拜我祖先的神的。一切律法和先知所记的，我都相信。

这人在主的道上受过训练，心灵火热，很准确地讲论，并且教导人关于耶稣的事，但他只晓得约翰的洗礼。

腓力斯本来就详细晓得这道，却故意拖延他们，说：“等千夫长吕西亚来了，再断定你们的事。”

并且他在这里得到祭司长的授权，要捆绑所有求告你名的人。”

我曾经迫害信奉这道的人直至死地，把男男女女都捆绑起来，送进监狱，这是大祭司和全公议会都可以给我作证的。我也从他们那里得到了写给众弟兄的信，就去大马士革，要把那里的人捆绑起来，带到耶路撒冷接受惩罚。

“那时候，我得到祭司长的授权和准许，去大马士革。

哈曼对亚哈随鲁王说：“有一个种族，散居在王国各省各民族之中；他们的法例与各族的法例不同，他们也不遵守王的法规；所以留下他们，对王实在无益。王若是赞成，请王降旨消灭他们；我愿捐出三十四万公斤银子，交在管理国务的人手中，纳入王库。”于是王从自己的手中取下戒指，交给犹大人的敌人，亚甲族哈米大他的儿子哈曼。王对哈曼说：“这银子仍赐给你，这民也交给你，你看怎样好，就怎样待他们吧。”正月十三日，王的书记都召了来，照着哈曼的一切吩咐，用各省的文字，各族的方言，奉亚哈随鲁王的名下旨，又用王的戒指盖上印，颁给总督、各省的省长和各族的领袖。王旨交给众驿使传到王的各省，吩咐要在一日之内，在十二月，就是亚达月十三日，把所有的犹大人，无论老少妇孺，都全部毁灭、杀绝、除尽，并且抢夺他们的财产。

当时有几个称为“自由人”会堂的人，就是从古利奈和亚历山太来的人，另外还有基利家人和亚西亚人，他们出面与司提反辩论，

“你们不按公义审判，偏袒恶人，要到几时呢？（细拉）你们要为贫寒的人和孤儿伸冤，为困苦和穷乏的人伸张正义。要搭救贫寒和穷困的人，救他们脱离恶人的手。”

他就谋害我们的同胞，虐待我们的祖先，逼他们抛弃自己的婴孩，不容婴孩存活。

过了三天，保罗请犹太人的首领来。他们都到了，保罗说：“各位弟兄，我虽然没有作过什么事反对人民或者反对祖先的规例，却像囚犯被逮捕，从耶路撒冷交到罗马人的手里。他们审讯之后，因为在我身上没有什么该死的罪，就想要释放我。可是犹太人反对，我迫不得已才上诉凯撒，并不是有什么事要控告我的国民。因此，我请你们来见面谈谈。我原是为了以色列的盼望，才带上这条锁链的。”他们说：“我们没有收到犹太来的信，是提到你的，弟兄中也没有人来报告，或说你什么坏话。但我们觉得应该听听你本人的意见，因为关于这教派，我们知道是到处遭人反对的。”

他们从别加往前走，到了彼西底的安提阿，在安息日进了会堂，就坐下来。宣读了律法和先知书以后，会堂的理事们派人到他们那里来，说：“弟兄们，如果有什么劝勉众人的话，请说吧！”
