And when the blood of your witness Stephen was being shed, I stood there giving approval and guarding the clothes of those who killed him.’

But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come on you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

After they called in the apostles and had them flogged, they ordered them not to speak in the name of Jesus and released them.

When they heard this, they were enraged and wanted to kill them.

Because of this, the wisdom of God said,‘ I will send them prophets and apostles, and some of them they will kill and persecute,’so that this generation may be held responsible for the blood of all the prophets shed since the foundation of the world—

while the rest seized his servants, mistreated them, and killed them.

Now those who had been scattered as a result of the persecution that started because of Stephen made their way as far as Phoenicia, Cyprus, and Antioch, speaking the word to no one except Jews.But there were some of them, men from Cyprus and Cyrene, who came to Antioch and began speaking to the Greeks also, proclaiming the good news about the Lord Jesus.The Lord’s hand was with them, and a large number who believed turned to the Lord.News about them reached the church in Jerusalem, and they sent out Barnabas to travel as far as Antioch.

Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego replied to the king,“ Nebuchadnezzar, we don’t need to give you an answer to this question.If the God we serve exists, then he can rescue us from the furnace of blazing fire, and he can rescue us from the power of you, the king.But even if he does not rescue us, we want you as king to know that we will not serve your gods or worship the gold statue you set up.”

So those who were scattered went on their way preaching the word.

So the church throughout all Judea, Galilee, and Samaria had peace and was strengthened. Living in the fear of the Lord and encouraged by the Holy Spirit, it increased in numbers.

Remember the word I spoke to you:‘ A servant is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted me, they will also persecute you. If they kept my word, they will also keep yours.

When the apostles who were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent Peter and John to them.

They will ban you from the synagogues. In fact, a time is coming when anyone who kills you will think he is offering service to God.

The king was overjoyed and gave orders to take Daniel out of the den. When Daniel was brought up from the den, he was found to be unharmed, for he trusted in his God.

“ You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt should lose its taste, how can it be made salty? It’s no longer good for anything but to be thrown out and trampled under people’s feet.

When Daniel learned that the document had been signed, he went into his house. The windows in its upstairs room opened toward Jerusalem, and three times a day he got down on his knees, prayed, and gave thanks to his God, just as he had done before.

Now many Samaritans from that town believed in him because of what the woman said when she testified,“ He told me everything I ever did.”So when the Samaritans came to him, they asked him to stay with them, and he stayed there two days.Many more believed because of what he said.And they told the woman,“ We no longer believe because of what you said, since we have heard for ourselves and know that this really is the Savior of the world.”

Now in the church at Antioch there were prophets and teachers: Barnabas, Simeon who was called Niger, Lucius of Cyrene, Manaen, a close friend of Herod the tetrarch, and Saul.

Now I want you to know, brothers and sisters, that what has happened to me has actually advanced the gospel,

“ Go and stand in the temple, and tell the people all about this life.”

So I sent messengers to them, saying,“ I am doing important work and cannot come down. Why should the work cease while I leave it and go down to you?”

By faith he left Egypt behind, not being afraid of the king’s anger, for Moses persevered as one who sees him who is invisible.

This is why I am sending you prophets, sages, and scribes. Some of them you will kill and crucify, and some of them you will flog in your synagogues and pursue from town to town.

So they arrested the apostles and put them in the public jail.

He is the one who was in the assembly in the wilderness, with the angel who spoke to him on Mount Sinai, and with our ancestors. He received living oracles to give to us.

It is enough for a disciple to become like his teacher and a slave like his master. If they called the head of the house‘ Beelzebul,’ how much more the members of his household!“ Therefore, don’t be afraid of them, since there is nothing covered that won’t be uncovered and nothing hidden that won’t be made known.What I tell you in the dark, speak in the light. What you hear in a whisper, proclaim on the housetops.Don’t fear those who kill the body but are not able to kill the soul; rather, fear him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. Every day the Lord added to their number those who were being saved.

When they heard these things, they were enraged and gnashed their teeth at him.
