Some men came down from Judea and began teaching the brothers,“ Unless you are circumcised according to the custom of Moses, you cannot be saved.”

and they have been told about you, that you are teaching all the Jews who are among the Gentiles to abandon Moses, telling them not to circumcise their children nor to walk according to the customs.

while Paul said in his own defense,“ I have not done anything wrong either against the Law of the Jews, or against the temple, or against Caesar.”

Why the Law then? It was added on account of the violations, having been ordered through angels at the hand of a mediator, until the Seed would come to whom the promise had been made.

Therefore on account of you, Zion will be plowed like a field, Jerusalem will become a heap of ruins, And the mountain of the temple will become high places of a forest.

But now He has obtained a more excellent ministry, to the extent that He is also the mediator of a better covenant, which has been enacted on better promises.For if that first covenant had been free of fault, no circumstances would have been sought for a second.For in finding fault with the people, He says,“ Behold, days are coming, says the Lord, When I will bring about a new covenant With the house of Israel and the house of Judah,Not like the covenant which I made with their fathers On the day I took them by the hand To bring them out of the land of Egypt; For they did not continue in My covenant, And I did not care about them, says the Lord.For this is the covenant which I will make with the house of Israel After those days, declares the Lord: I will put My laws into their minds, And write them on their hearts. And I will be their God, And they shall be My people.And they will not teach, each one his fellow citizen, And each one his brother, saying,‘ Know the Lord,’ For they will all know Me, From the least to the greatest of them.For I will be merciful toward their wrongdoings, And their sins I will no longer remember.”When He said,“ A new covenant,” He has made the first obsolete. But whatever is becoming obsolete and growing old is about to disappear.

And I will put a sign among them and send survivors from them to the nations: Tarshish, Put, Lud, Meshech, Tubal, and Javan, to the distant coastlands that have neither heard of My fame nor seen My glory. And they will declare My glory among the nations.Then they shall bring all your countrymen from all the nations as a grain offering to the Lord, on horses, in chariots, in litters, on mules, and on camels, to My holy mountain Jerusalem,” says the Lord,“ just as the sons of Israel bring their grain offering in a clean vessel to the house of the Lord.I will also take some of them as priests and Levites,” says the Lord.

especially because you are an expert in all customs and questions among the Jews; therefore I beg you to listen to me patiently.

“ We heard Him say,‘ I will destroy this temple that was made by hands, and in three days I will build another, made without hands.’ ”

Jesus* said to her,“ Believe Me, woman, that a time is coming when you will worship the Father neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem.

Open your doors, Lebanon, So that a fire may feed on your cedars.

So we too, when we were children, were held in bondage under the elementary principles of the world.But when the fullness of the time came, God sent His Son, born of a woman, born under the Law,so that He might redeem those who were under the Law, that we might receive the adoption as sons and daughters.

After three days Paul called together those who were the leading men of the Jews, and when they came together, he began saying to them,“ Brothers, though I had done nothing against our people or the customs of our fathers, yet I was handed over to the Romans as a prisoner from Jerusalem.

And His voice shook the earth then, but now He has promised, saying,“ Yet once more I will shake not only the earth, but also the heaven.”This expression,“ Yet once more,” denotes the removing of those things which can be shaken, as of created things, so that those things which cannot be shaken may remain.Therefore, since we receive a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let’s show gratitude, by which we may offer to God an acceptable service with reverence and awe;

You will leave your name as a curse to My chosen ones, And the Lord God will put you to death. But My servants will be called by another name.

“ As for these things which you are observing, the days will come when there will not be left one stone upon another, which will not be torn down.”

“ Micah of Moresheth used to prophesy in the days of Hezekiah king of Judah; and he spoke to all the people of Judah, saying,‘ This is what the Lord of armies has said:“ Zion will be plowed like a field, And Jerusalem will become heaps of ruins, And the mountain of the house like the high places of a forest.” ’

Jesus left the temple area and was going on His way when His disciples came up to point out the temple buildings to Him.But He responded and said to them,“ Do you not see all these things? Truly I say to you, not one stone here will be left upon another, which will not be torn down.”

and they will fall by the edge of the sword, and will be led captive into all the nations; and Jerusalem will be trampled underfoot by the Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.

So if perfection was through the Levitical priesthood( for on the basis of it the people received the Law), what further need was there for another priest to arise according to the order of Melchizedek, and not be designated according to the order of Aaron?For when the priesthood is changed, of necessity there takes place a change of law also.For the one about whom these things are said belongs to another tribe, from which no one has officiated at the altar.For it is evident that our Lord was descended from Judah, a tribe with reference to which Moses said nothing concerning priests.And this is clearer still, if another priest arises according to the likeness of Melchizedek,who has become a priest not on the basis of a law of physical requirement, but according to the power of an indestructible life.For it is attested of Him,“ You are a priest forever According to the order of Melchizedek.”For, on the one hand, there is the nullification of a former commandment because of its weakness and uselessness( for the Law made nothing perfect); on the other hand, there is the introduction of a better hope, through which we come near to God.

then I will make this house like Shiloh, and I will make this city a curse to all the nations of the earth.” ’ ”The priests and the prophets and all the people heard Jeremiah speaking these words in the house of the Lord.Yet when Jeremiah finished speaking everything that the Lord had commanded him to speak to all the people, then the priests and the prophets and all the people seized him, saying,“ You must die!Why have you prophesied in the name of the Lord, saying,‘ This house will be like Shiloh and this city will be in ruins, without inhabitant’?” And all the people gathered to Jeremiah at the house of the Lord.

For the sons of Israel will live for many days without a king or leader, without sacrifice or memorial stone, and without ephod or household idols.

But before faith came, we were kept in custody under the Law, being confined for the faith that was destined to be revealed.

For the Law, since it has only a shadow of the good things to come and not the form of those things itself, can never, by the same sacrifices which they offer continually every year, make those who approach perfect.Otherwise, would they not have ceased to be offered, because the worshipers, having once been cleansed, would no longer have had consciousness of sins?But in those sacrifices there is a reminder of sins every year.For it is impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins.Therefore, when He comes into the world, He says,“ You have not desired sacrifice and offering, But You have prepared a body for Me;You have not taken pleasure in whole burnt offerings and offerings for sin.Then I said,‘ Behold, I have come( It is written of Me in the scroll of the book) To do Your will, O God.’ ”After saying above,“ Sacrifices and offerings and whole burnt offerings and offerings for sin You have not desired, nor have You taken pleasure in them”( which are offered according to the Law),then He said,“ Behold, I have come to do Your will.” He takes away the first in order to establish the second.By this will, we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all time.Every priest stands daily ministering and offering time after time the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins;but He, having offered one sacrifice for sins for all time, sat down at the right hand of God,waiting from that time onward until His enemies are made a footstool for His feet.For by one offering He has perfected for all time those who are sanctified.And the Holy Spirit also testifies to us; for after saying,“ This is the covenant which I will make with them After those days, declares the Lord: I will put My laws upon their hearts, And write them on their mind,” He then says,“ And their sins and their lawless deeds I will no longer remember.”Now where there is forgiveness of these things, an offering for sin is no longer required.

For I will gather all the nations against Jerusalem to battle, and the city will be taken, the houses plundered, the women raped, and half of the city exiled, but the rest of the people will not be eliminated from the city.

This is what the Lord says:“ Heaven is My throne and the earth is the footstool for My feet. Where then is a house you could build for Me? And where is a place that I may rest?For My hand made all these things, So all these things came into being,” declares the Lord.“ But I will look to this one, At one who is humble and contrite in spirit, and who trembles at My word.“ But the one who slaughters an ox is like one who kills a person; The one who sacrifices a lamb is like one who breaks a dog’s neck; One who offers a grain offering is like one who offers pig’s blood; One who burns incense is like one who blesses an idol. As they have chosen their own ways, And their souls delight in their abominations,So I will choose their punishments And bring on them what they dread. Because I called, but no one answered; I spoke, but they did not listen. Instead, they did evil in My sight And chose that in which I did not delight.”Hear the word of the Lord, you who tremble at His word:“ Your brothers who hate you, who exclude you on account of My name, Have said,‘ Let the Lord be glorified, so that we may see your joy.’ But they will be put to shame.A sound of uproar from the city, a voice from the temple, The voice of the Lord who is dealing retribution to His enemies.

which is a symbol for the present time. Accordingly both gifts and sacrifices are offered which cannot make the worshiper perfect in conscience,since they relate only to food, drink, and various washings, regulations for the body imposed until a time of reformation.But when Christ appeared as a high priest of the good things having come, He entered through the greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made by hands, that is, not of this creation;

Do not trust in deceptive words, saying,‘ This is the temple of the Lord, the temple of the Lord, the temple of the Lord.’For if you truly amend your ways and your deeds, if you truly practice justice between a person and his neighbor,if you do not oppress the stranger, the orphan, or the widow, and do not shed innocent blood in this place, nor follow other gods to your own ruin,then I will let you live in this place, in the land that I gave to your fathers forever and ever.“ Behold, you are trusting in deceptive words to no avail.Will you steal, murder, commit adultery, swear falsely, offer sacrifices to Baal, and follow other gods that you have not known,then come and stand before Me in this house which is called by My name, and say,‘ We are saved!’— so that you may do all these abominations?Has this house, which is called by My name, become a den of robbers in your sight? Behold, I Myself have seen it,” declares the Lord.“ But go now to My place which was in Shiloh, where I made My name dwell at the beginning, and see what I did to it because of the wickedness of My people Israel.And now, because you have done all these things,” declares the Lord,“ and I spoke to you, speaking again and again, but you did not listen, and I called you but you did not answer,therefore I will do to the house which is called by My name, in which you trust, and to the place which I gave you and your fathers, just as I did to Shiloh.

Then Jeremiah spoke to all the officials and to all the people, saying,“ The Lord sent me to prophesy against this house and against this city all the words that you have heard.

Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the city that kills the prophets and stones those who have been sent to her! How often I wanted to gather your children together, just as a hen gathers her young under her wings, and you were unwilling!Behold, your house is left to you desolate; and I say to you, you will not see Me until you say,‘ Blessed is the One who comes in the name of the Lord!’ ”

and said,“ This man stated,‘ I am able to destroy the temple of God and to rebuild it in three days.’ ”
