忽然發生了大地震，以致監牢的地基都搖動起來，所有的監門立刻開了，囚犯的鎖鍊都鬆了。

有主的一位使者對腓利說：“起來，向南走，往那從耶路撒冷下迦薩的路上去。”那條路在曠野裡。

在他們之前，他差遣一個人去，就是被賣為奴的約瑟。人用腳鐐弄傷他的腳，他的頸項被鐵鍊鎖著，直到他的話應驗，耶和華的話為他證實的時候。王就派人去釋放他，統治眾民的把他釋放了。

耶和華的使者，在敬畏他的人周圍紮營，搭救他們。

主耶和華的靈在我身上，因為耶和華膏了我，叫我傳福音給困苦的人；差遣我去醫治傷心的人，向被擄的宣告自由，向被囚的宣告釋放；

因為我所歸屬所事奉的神，他的使者昨天夜裡站在我的旁邊，說：

忽然，有主的一位使者出現，牢房裡就光芒四射。天使拍拍彼得的肋旁，喚醒他，說：“快起來！”他手上的鎖鍊就脫落了。天使對他說：“束上帶子，穿上鞋！”他就這樣作了。天使又說：“披上外衣，跟我走！”他就出來跟著天使走，但他不知道天使所作的事是真的，還以為是見了異象。他們經過第一、第二兩個崗位，來到通往城內的鐵門，那門自動給他們開了。他們出來，往前走了一條街，天使立刻離開了他。彼得清醒過來，說：“現在我確實知道，主差他的天使來，救我脫離希律的手和猶太人所期望的一切。”

有主的使者站在香壇右邊，向他顯現。
