『民間的議員和長老啊，今天我們若因在病人身上所行的善事而受審問這個人是因着甚麼而得救治，

如果我們今天因在一個殘疾人身上所行的善事，被查問這個人怎樣得到救治，

我儕今日若因行於病者之善事見訊、即斯人何由得愈、

我儕今日、以病人獲恩故、而問其何以得愈、

我儕今日、若為向病人所行之善事被詰、彼何以得愈、

『民之有司及諸長老！爾曹若為吾儕施恩於殘廢之人、而欲一究其全復之由、

If we are being called to account today for an act of kindness shown to a man who was lame and are being asked how he was healed,

Are you asking us to explain our actions today? Do you want to know why we were kind to a man who couldn’t walk? Are you asking how he was healed?

if we are being examined today concerning a good deed done to a crippled man, by what means this man has been healed,

are we being questioned today because we’ve done a good deed for a crippled man? Do you want to know how he was healed?

If we are being examined today about a good deed done to a disabled man, by what means he was healed,

if we are on trial today for a benefit done to a sick man, as to how this man has been made well,

If we this day are judged for a good deed done to a helpless man, by what means he has been made well,

if we this day are examined concerning a good deed done to an impotent man, by what means this man is made whole;

If we are being examined today about a good deed done to a disabled man— by what means he was healed—

If we this day be examined of the good deed done to the impotent man, by what means he is made whole;

if we are examined today concerning a good deed done to a crippled man, by what means this man has been healed,

Then Peter took hold of him by the right hand and raised him up, and at once the man’s feet and ankles were made strong.

If you are insulted for the name of Christ, you are blessed, because the Spirit of glory, who is the Spirit of God, rests on you.

But set Christ apart as Lord in your hearts and always be ready to give an answer to anyone who asks about the hope you possess.Yet do it with courtesy and respect, keeping a good conscience, so that those who slander your good conduct in Christ may be put to shame when they accuse you.For it is better to suffer for doing good, if God wills it, than for doing evil.
