And when they had set them in the midst, they asked, By what power, or by what name, have ye done this?

They had Peter and John brought before them and began to question them:“ By what power or what name did you do this?”

And to him they agreed: and when they had called the apostles, and beaten[ them], they commanded that they should not speak in the name of Jesus, and let them go.

And he said, Who made thee a prince and a judge over us? intendest thou to kill me, as thou killedst the Egyptian? And Moses feared, and said, Surely this thing is known.

And they which heard[ it], being convicted by[ their own] conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest,[ even] unto the last: and Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst.

And the scribes and Pharisees brought unto him a woman taken in adultery; and when they had set her in the midst,

They proclaimed a fast, and set Naboth on high among the people.And there came in two men, children of Belial, and sat before him: and the men of Belial witnessed against him,[ even] against Naboth, in the presence of the people, saying, Naboth did blaspheme God and the king. Then they carried him forth out of the city, and stoned him with stones, that he died.Then they sent to Jezebel, saying, Naboth is stoned, and is dead.
