於是守殿官和差役去帶使徒來，並沒有用暴力，因為怕百姓用石頭打他們。

祭司長和文士在想法子怎樣殺害耶穌，因他們懼怕百姓。

眾人看見都畏懼，歸榮耀給神，因為他把這樣的權柄賜給人。

文士和祭司長看出這比喻是指着他們說的，當時就想要下手拿他，只是懼怕百姓。

他們想要捉拿他，但是懼怕眾人，因為眾人認為他是先知。

我們若說『從人間來的』，所有的百姓都會用石頭打死我們，因為他們信約翰是先知。」

可是他們說：「不可在過節的日子，恐怕百姓生亂。」

耶穌天天在聖殿裏教導人。祭司長、文士和百姓的領袖都想殺他，但找不出方法來，因為百姓都側耳聽他。

眾人因聽見耶穌行了這神蹟，就去迎接他。法利賽人彼此說：「你們看，你們一事無成，世人都隨着他去了。」

於是眾人都驚訝，因為看見聾啞的說話，肢殘的痊癒，瘸子行走，盲人看見，他們就歸榮耀給以色列的神。

就叫使徒來，把他們打了，又吩咐他們不可奉耶穌的名講道，然後把他們釋放了。

彼得卻說：「金銀我都沒有，但我把我有的給你：奉拿撒勒人耶穌基督的名起來行走！」於是彼得拉着他的右手，扶他起來；他的腳和踝骨立刻健壯了，就跳起來，站着，又開始行走。他跟他們進了聖殿，邊走邊跳，讚美神。百姓都看見他又行走，又讚美神，

鬼被趕出去，啞巴就說出話來。眾人都很驚訝，說：「在以色列，從來沒有見過這樣的事。」

眾人都驚奇，也歸榮耀給神，並且滿心懼怕，說：「我們今日看見不尋常的事了！」

但為避免這事越發在民間傳揚，我們必須威嚇他們，叫他們不可再奉這名對任何人講論。」

耶穌說這些話，他的敵人都慚愧了；所有的人因他所做一切榮耀的事都很歡喜。
