After further threats they let them go. They could not decide how to punish them, because all the people were praising God for what had happened.

Then the commander of the temple guard went with the officers and brought the apostles without the use of force( for they were afraid of being stoned by the people).

Jesus was teaching daily in the temple courts. The chief priests and the experts in the law and the prominent leaders among the people were seeking to assassinate him,but they could not find a way to do it, for all the people hung on his words.

Because they had heard that Jesus had performed this miraculous sign, the crowd went out to meet him.Thus the Pharisees said to one another,“ You see that you can do nothing. Look, the world has run off after him!”

As a result, the crowd was amazed when they saw the mute speaking, the crippled healthy, the lame walking, and the blind seeing, and they praised the God of Israel.

and they summoned the apostles and had them beaten. Then they ordered them not to speak in the name of Jesus and released them.

But Peter said,“ I have no silver or gold, but what I do have I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene, stand up and walk!”Then Peter took hold of him by the right hand and raised him up, and at once the man’s feet and ankles were made strong.He jumped up, stood and began walking around, and he entered the temple courts with them, walking and leaping and praising God.All the people saw him walking and praising God,

After the demon was cast out, the man who had been mute spoke. The crowds were amazed and said,“ Never has anything like this been seen in Israel!”

Then astonishment seized them all, and they glorified God. They were filled with awe, saying,“ We have seen incredible things today.”

But to keep this matter from spreading any further among the people, let us warn them to speak no more to anyone in this name.”

When he said this all his adversaries were humiliated, but the entire crowd was rejoicing at all the wonderful things he was doing.
