兄弟則為主之所愛、吾儕尚可不為爾等恆謝洪恩乎？蓋天主自始予爾等以簡拔、俾爾等受聖神之感化、篤信真理、以蒙救恩。其召爾也、以吾儕之傳福音為因緣、而以爾等得沾吾主耶穌基督之光榮為目的。

眾未進食者、亦已多日。葆樂出、挺立眾中曰：『諸君、汝等本應聽予之言、不離革哩底、則亦不致招此艱危損失、予今仍勸汝等安心、汝等將無人失其生命、惟失此舟耳。以予所隸屬、所奉之天主、其使者昨夜立予前曰：「葆樂勿畏、汝必得立於凱撒前；且與汝同舟共濟者、天主悉以賜汝矣。」

瑪莉雅謂天神曰：『予乃童身、此事奚成？』天神對曰：『聖神臨汝、至尊之德庇汝、因是所生聖者、應稱天主子。

主必叮嚀眾天神。左扶右翼免爾傾。惟恐爾足觸躓石。天神親手托爾身。

凡父所賜於予之人、必來歸予；來歸予者、予決不拒。

但巴總信舟長與舟主、不從葆樂之言、

士卒慮囚犯泅水而逸；意欲殺之、但巴總欲救葆樂、阻其計、命泳者躍入水中、先行登岸、

魔乃挈之入耶路撒冷、置之殿頂、謂之曰：『汝苟為天主子者、宜可一躍而下、蓋經有云：主必叮嚀眾天神、左輔右翼免爾傾、惟恐爾足觸躓石、天神親手托爾身。』耶穌答曰：『惟經亦云：莫試上主爾所天。』
