Opponents must be gently instructed, in the hope that God will grant them repentance leading them to a knowledge of the truth,and that they will come to their senses and escape from the trap of the devil, who has taken them captive to do his will. (niv)

Live as children of light( for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness and truth)and find out what pleases the Lord.Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them.It is shameful even to mention what the disobedient do in secret.But everything exposed by the light becomes visible— and everything that is illuminated becomes a light.This is why it is said:“ Wake up, sleeper, rise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.”Be very careful, then, how you live— not as unwise but as wise,making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil.Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is.Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit,speaking to one another with psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit. Sing and make music from your heart to the Lord,always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ.Wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands as you do to the Lord.For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior.Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything.Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her (niv)

Day and night they kept close watch on the city gates in order to kill him.But his followers took him by night and lowered him in a basket through an opening in the wall.When he came to Jerusalem, he tried to join the disciples, but they were all afraid of him, not believing that he really was a disciple.But Barnabas took him and brought him to the apostles. He told them how Saul on his journey had seen the Lord and that the Lord had spoken to him, and how in Damascus he had preached fearlessly in the name of Jesus.So Saul stayed with them and moved about freely in Jerusalem, speaking boldly in the name of the Lord.He talked and debated with the Hellenistic Jews, but they tried to kill him. (niv)

Or do you show contempt for the riches of his kindness, forbearance and patience, not realizing that God’s kindness is intended to lead you to repentance? (niv)

Teach the older men to be temperate, worthy of respect, self-controlled, and sound in faith, in love and in endurance.Likewise, teach the older women to be reverent in the way they live, not to be slanderers or addicted to much wine, but to teach what is good.Then they can urge the younger women to love their husbands and children,to be self- controlled and pure, to be busy at home, to be kind, and to be subject to their husbands, so that no one will malign the word of God.Similarly, encourage the young men to be self-controlled.In everything set them an example by doing what is good. In your teaching show integrity, seriousnessand soundness of speech that cannot be condemned, so that those who oppose you may be ashamed because they have nothing bad to say about us.Teach slaves to be subject to their masters in everything, to try to please them, not to talk back to them,and not to steal from them, but to show that they can be fully trusted, so that in every way they will make the teaching about God our Savior attractive.For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people.It teaches us to say“ No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age,while we wait for the blessed hope— the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, (niv)

do not consider yourself to be superior to those other branches. If you do, consider this: You do not support the root, but the root supports you.You will say then,“ Branches were broken off so that I could be grafted in.”Granted. But they were broken off because of unbelief, and you stand by faith. Do not be arrogant, but tremble. (niv)

Remember, therefore, what you have received and heard; hold it fast, and repent. But if you do not wake up, I will come like a thief, and you will not know at what time I will come to you. (niv)

Take words with you and return to the Lord. Say to him:“ Forgive all our sins and receive us graciously, that we may offer the fruit of our lips. (niv)

and when he found him, he brought him to Antioch. So for a whole year Barnabas and Saul met with the church and taught great numbers of people. The disciples were called Christians first at Antioch.During this time some prophets came down from Jerusalem to Antioch.One of them, named Agabus, stood up and through the Spirit predicted that a severe famine would spread over the entire Roman world.( This happened during the reign of Claudius.)The disciples, as each one was able, decided to provide help for the brothers and sisters living in Judea.This they did, sending their gift to the elders by Barnabas and Saul.
