大卫心里说：“总有一天我会死在扫罗手里，现在我最好逃到非利士人的地去，扫罗就会绝望，不会继续在以色列全境内寻索我了。这样，我才可以脱离他的手。”

保罗说：“我现在站在凯撒的审判台前，这就是我应当受审的地方。我并没有对犹太人做过什么不对的事，这也是你明明知道的。

“大能者神耶和华！大能者神耶和华！他已知道，愿以色列人也知道，我们若有悖逆的行为，或是干犯耶和华，你今日就不要让我们活着！

耶和华—我的神啊，我若行了这事，若有罪孽在我手里，我若以恶回报我的朋友，连那无故与我为敌的，我也救了他，就任凭仇敌追赶我，直到追上，把我的性命踏在地上，使我的荣耀归于灰尘。（细拉）

我若举手攻击孤儿，因为在城门口见有帮助我的；

他们刚用皮条把他捆上的时候，保罗对站在旁边的百夫长说：“一个罗马人，又未被定罪，你们就鞭打他是合法的吗？”

保罗刚要开口，迦流对犹太人说：“你们这些犹太人哪！如果是为冤枉或奸恶的事，我理当耐性听你们。

保罗却说：“我们是罗马人，并没有定罪，他们竟在公众面前打了我们，又把我们下在监里；现在要私下赶我们出去吗？这不行！叫他们自己来领我们出去吧！”

这些犹太人不但杀了主耶稣和先知们，又把我们赶出去。他们令神不悦，且与众人为敌，
