Wherefore now let the fear of the LORD be upon you; take heed and do[ it]: for[ there is] no iniquity with the LORD our God, nor respect of persons, nor taking of gifts.

That they may do evil with both hands earnestly, the prince asketh, and the judge[ asketh] for a reward; and the great[ man], he uttereth his mischievous desire: so they wrap it up.

Thus saith the LORD; For three transgressions of Israel, and for four, I will not turn away[ the punishment] thereof; because they sold the righteous for silver, and the poor for a pair of shoes;That pant after the dust of the earth on the head of the poor, and turn aside the way of the meek: and a man and his father will go in unto the[ same] maid, to profane my holy name:

Having eyes full of adultery, and that cannot cease from sin; beguiling unstable souls: an heart they have exercised with covetous practices; cursed children:Which have forsaken the right way, and are gone astray, following the way of Balaam[ the son] of Bosor, who loved the wages of unrighteousness;

And thou shalt take no gift: for the gift blindeth the wise, and perverteth the words of the righteous.

A gift[ is as] a precious stone in the eyes of him that hath it: whithersoever it turneth, it prospereth.

Now after many years I came to bring alms to my nation, and offerings.

A wicked[ man] taketh a gift out of the bosom to pervert the ways of judgment.

Many will intreat the favour of the prince: and every man[ is] a friend to him that giveth gifts.

Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind,

[ He is] a merchant, the balances of deceit[ are] in his hand: he loveth to oppress.And Ephraim said, Yet I am become rich, I have found me out substance:[ in] all my labours they shall find none iniquity in me that[ were] sin.

Her princes in the midst thereof[ are] like wolves ravening the prey, to shed blood,[ and] to destroy souls, to get dishonest gain.

The heads thereof judge for reward, and the priests thereof teach for hire, and the prophets thereof divine for money: yet will they lean upon the LORD, and say,[ Is] not the LORD among us? none evil can come upon us.

Gather not my soul with sinners, nor my life with bloody men:In whose hands[ is] mischief, and their right hand is full of bribes.

The king by judgment establisheth the land: but he that receiveth gifts overthroweth it.

Yea,[ they are] greedy dogs[ which] can never have enough, and they[ are] shepherds[ that] cannot understand: they all look to their own way, every one for his gain, from his quarter.

Their drink is sour: they have committed whoredom continually: her rulers[ with] shame do love, Give ye.

But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and[ into] many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition.For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience.

For the congregation of hypocrites[ shall be] desolate, and fire shall consume the tabernacles of bribery.

And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not.

Thy princes[ are] rebellious, and companions of thieves: every one loveth gifts, and followeth after rewards: they judge not the fatherless, neither doth the cause of the widow come unto them.

And they come unto thee as the people cometh, and they sit before thee[ as] my people, and they hear thy words, but they will not do them: for with their mouth they shew much love,[ but] their heart goeth after their covetousness.
