he said,“ I will hear your case when your accusers get here.” Then he ordered that Paul be kept under guard in Herod’s palace.

he said,“ I will give you a hearing when your accusers arrive.” And he commanded him to be guarded in Herod’s praetorium.

“ I will hear your case myself when your accusers arrive,” the governor told him. Then the governor ordered him kept in the prison at Herod’s headquarters.

後予得報、牒知猶太人欲謀害其人、爰即解之閣下、並命控訴者、控之汝前。』

予答曰：「無論何人、兩造尚未對質、且對於所控之事、未獲答辯即先定罪、羅馬人無此慣例。」

方伯之衛卒、引耶穌入公廨、集全營兵士於其前、

希祿王聞之、心為不寧、耶路撒冷通都譁然。

越五日、大司祭亞拿尼亞與數長老及律師名帖士羅者詣總督前、控葆樂。

希祿在位之日、耶穌誕生於猶太百利恆郡。有哲士數人、自東方來至耶路撒冷而訪曰：

裴力斯本詳知此道、乃托故延宕、謂猶太人曰：『俟千總呂西亞至、再訊。』

越數日、裴力斯偕其妻猶太女子土西拉至、召葆樂、欲聽耶穌基督之道、葆樂為之講述正義、貞節、及未來之審判。裴力斯恐懼曰：『汝今且去、有暇當再邀汝。』裴力斯又望葆樂予以賄賂、故屢邀彼至、與之周旋。二載後、波求非斯都繼裴力斯任、裴力斯欲博猶太人歡心、留葆樂於縲絏之中。

當時希祿知為哲士所紿、怒甚；乃按其所告年月、遣人就百利恆及鄰境、凡二歲以下之嬰孩、盡殲之。

方伯向葆樂頷首、命置答。葆樂即曰：『知汝在此國中、聽訟有年、故予安心自為辯護。

平旦、眾曳耶穌出蓋法署、解往督轅、而眾未遽入、恐為所浼而不得食免難羔也。

倘若輩有不滿於我、則當來汝前呈訴，
