天一亮，民间的众长老连祭司长带文士都聚会，把耶稣带到他们的公会里，

扫罗仍然向主的门徒口吐威吓凶杀的话，去见大祭司，求文书给大马士革的各会堂，若是找着信奉这道的人，无论男女，都准他捆绑带到耶路撒冷。

使徒听了这话，天将亮的时候就进殿里去教训人。大祭司和他的同人来了，叫齐公会的人和以色列族的众长老，就差人到监里去，要把使徒提出来。

你不要轻忽所得的恩赐，就是从前藉着预言、在众长老按手的时候赐给你的。

“弟兄们，亚伯拉罕的子孙和你们中间敬畏神的人哪，这救世的道是传给我们的。

第二天，官府、长老，和文士在耶路撒冷聚会，

他们说：“我们并没有接着从犹太来论你的信，也没有弟兄到这里来报给我们说你有什么不好处。

为我弟兄，我骨肉之亲，就是自己被咒诅，与基督分离，我也愿意。他们是以色列人；那儿子的名分、荣耀、诸约、律法、礼仪、应许都是他们的。

并且他在这里有从祭司长得来的权柄捆绑一切求告你名的人。”

我在耶路撒冷也曾这样行了。既从祭司长得了权柄，我就把许多圣徒囚在监里。他们被杀，我也出名定案。

“那时，我领了祭司长的权柄和命令，往大马士革去。

“诸位父兄请听，我现在对你们分诉。”
