For Paul had decided to sail past Ephesus, so that he would not have to spend time in Asia; for he was hurrying to be at Jerusalem, if possible, on the Day of Pentecost.

But the following night the Lord stood by him and said,“ Be of good cheer, Paul; for as you have testified for Me in Jerusalem, so you must also bear witness at Rome.”

but took leave of them, saying,“ I must by all means keep this coming feast in Jerusalem; but I will return again to you, God willing.” And he sailed from Ephesus.

Now I do not want you to be unaware, brethren, that I often planned to come to you( but was hindered until now), that I might have some fruit among you also, just as among the other Gentiles.

saying,‘ Do not be afraid, Paul; you must be brought before Caesar; and indeed God has granted you all those who sail with you.’

But I want you to know, brethren, that the things which happened to me have actually turned out for the furtherance of the gospel,so that it has become evident to the whole palace guard, and to all the rest, that my chains are in Christ;and most of the brethren in the Lord, having become confident by my chains, are much more bold to speak the word without fear.

And when we had come to Jerusalem, the brethren received us gladly.

so that you became examples to all in Macedonia and Achaia who believe.

Now when they had gone through Phrygia and the region of Galatia, they were forbidden by the Holy Spirit to preach the word in Asia.After they had come to Mysia, they tried to go into Bithynia, but the Spirit did not permit them.So passing by Mysia, they came down to Troas.And a vision appeared to Paul in the night. A man of Macedonia stood and pleaded with him, saying,“ Come over to Macedonia and help us.”Now after he had seen the vision, immediately we sought to go to Macedonia, concluding that the Lord had called us to preach the gospel to them.

When Gallio was proconsul of Achaia, the Jews with one accord rose up against Paul and brought him to the judgment seat,

After the uproar had ceased, Paul called the disciples to himself, embraced them, and departed to go to Macedonia.Now when he had gone over that region and encouraged them with many words, he came to Greeceand stayed three months. And when the Jews plotted against him as he was about to sail to Syria, he decided to return through Macedonia.And Sopater of Berea accompanied him to Asia— also Aristarchus and Secundus of the Thessalonians, and Gaius of Derbe, and Timothy, and Tychicus and Trophimus of Asia.These men, going ahead, waited for us at Troas.But we sailed away from Philippi after the Days of Unleavened Bread, and in five days joined them at Troas, where we stayed seven days.

Now I will come to you when I pass through Macedonia( for I am passing through Macedonia).

Who is he who speaks and it comes to pass, When the Lord has not commanded it?

So, as much as is in me, I am ready to preach the gospel to you who are in Rome also.

And in this confidence I intended to come to you before, that you might have a second benefit—to pass by way of you to Macedonia, to come again from Macedonia to you, and be helped by you on my way to Judea.Therefore, when I was planning this, did I do it lightly? Or the things I plan, do I plan according to the flesh, that with me there should be Yes, Yes, and No, No?But as God is faithful, our word to you was not Yes and No.

And finding disciples, we stayed there seven days. They told Paul through the Spirit not to go up to Jerusalem.

So Paul said,“ I stand at Caesar’s judgment seat, where I ought to be judged. To the Jews I have done no wrong, as you very well know.For if I am an offender, or have committed anything deserving of death, I do not object to dying; but if there is nothing in these things of which these men accuse me, no one can deliver me to them. I appeal to Caesar.”Then Festus, when he had conferred with the council, answered,“ You have appealed to Caesar? To Caesar you shall go!”

Now when we came to Rome, the centurion delivered the prisoners to the captain of the guard; but Paul was permitted to dwell by himself with the soldier who guarded him.

And when it was decided that we should sail to Italy, they delivered Paul and some other prisoners to one named Julius, a centurion of the Augustan Regiment.

Then after fourteen years I went up again to Jerusalem with Barnabas, and also took Titus with me.

When he had come to us, he took Paul’s belt, bound his own hands and feet, and said,“ Thus says the Holy Spirit,‘ so shall the Jews at Jerusalem bind the man who owns this belt, and deliver him into the hands of the Gentiles.’”Now when we heard these things, both we and those from that place pleaded with him not to go up to Jerusalem.Then Paul answered,“ What do you mean by weeping and breaking my heart? For I am ready not only to be bound, but also to die at Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus.”So when he would not be persuaded, we ceased, saying,“ The will of the Lord be done.”And after those days we packed and went up to Jerusalem.

Then Paul dwelt two whole years in his own rented house, and received all who came to him,preaching the kingdom of God and teaching the things which concern the Lord Jesus Christ with all confidence, no one forbidding him.

“ Now after many years I came to bring alms and offerings to my nation,in the midst of which some Jews from Asia found me purified in the temple, neither with a mob nor with tumult.

But now no longer having a place in these parts, and having a great desire these many years to come to you,whenever I journey to Spain, I shall come to you. For I hope to see you on my journey, and to be helped on my way there by you, if first I may enjoy your company for a while.But now I am going to Jerusalem to minister to the saints.For it pleased those from Macedonia and Achaia to make a certain contribution for the poor among the saints who are in Jerusalem.It pleased them indeed, and they are their debtors. For if the Gentiles have been partakers of their spiritual things, their duty is also to minister to them in material things.Therefore, when I have performed this and have sealed to them this fruit, I shall go by way of you to Spain.But I know that when I come to you, I shall come in the fullness of the blessing of the gospel of Christ.
