麥基德者、瑟琳之王而至尊天主之司祭也。方亞伯漢殲滅眾王、凱旋而歸也、麥基德迎之於途、而為之祝嘏；亞伯漢乃就其所有、什一以貢焉。其名為麥基德者、其意為正義之王也。其稱瑟琳之王、猶言和平之王也。經中不載其父母世系、及生卒年歲、而稱之為永久之司祭者、蓋欲使為天主聖子之前影耳。爾等盍一思之、我先祖亞伯漢、且以其戰利珍品什一以貢焉、則麥基德之尊貴為何如乎？利未子孫之任司祭者、依例什一以取於兄弟；其兄弟乃亞伯漢之後裔耳。惟不與若輩同族之麥基德、乃受貢於亞伯漢、且為彼承有恩諾之身祝嘏焉。夫為人祝嘏者、必較受祝之人為尊貴、此則不容疑義者也。且後之取貢者、皆屬有死之人、而彼則顯為有生無死。抑又有進者、即受貢之利未亦已因亞伯漢而納貢矣。何則、麥基德遇亞伯漢時、利未尚在厥祖之身耳。
