掃羅卻殘害教會，走進各家，拖着男女，送去下監。

因這緣故、我保羅為你們外國人做基督耶穌囚犯的、替你們祈禱——

說：『大人，我們記得那迷惑人者還活着的時候曾經說過：「三天以後我要活起來」。所以請發命令將墓把守妥當、直到第三天；恐怕他門徒來了，把他偷去，卻告訴人民說：「他從死人中活了起來」；這樣，那末後的迷惑就比先前的更厲害了。』彼拉多對他們說：『領一排守衛隊去吧；儘你們所能的把守妥當。』他們就去，將墓把守妥當，蓋印封着石頭，加上守衛隊。

把耶穌送官的給他們一個暗號，說：『我跟誰親嘴，誰就是他；你們要抓住他。』

在這傳福音的事上、我喫盡了苦惱、甚至於受捆鎖、像犯人一樣；然而上帝之道是不受捆鎖的。

所以我為主的緣故做囚犯的勸你們、行事為人要對得起你們所蒙的呼召。

看監獄的一睡醒了，看見監門全開着，以為囚犯都逃脫了，就拔了刀，要自殺。

向他求文書給大馬色各會堂，好使他、若找着了甚麼人信奉這道路，無論男女、都可以捆住，帶到耶路撒冷。

但在這一切事之先、人必下手拿住你們，逼迫你們，把你們送交到會堂和監牢裏；你們必為我的名被帶走到君王和統治官面前。

『我們看見監獄關得極妥當，守衛兵在各門外站着；趕到開了門，裏面卻一個人也沒見着。』

下手拿住使徒，把他們放在公眾拘留所裏。

看監獄的就把這些話告訴保羅說：『官長差遣人來，叫釋放你們呢。那你們如今就出監，安心去吧。』
