Instead we should write to them, telling them to abstain from food polluted by idols, from sexual immorality, from the meat of strangled animals and from blood.

Here is what we should write to them. They must not eat food that has been made impure by being offered to statues of gods. They must not commit sexual sins. They must not eat the meat of animals that have been choked to death. And they must not drink blood.

Instead, we should write and tell them to abstain from eating food offered to idols, from sexual immorality, from eating the meat of strangled animals, and from consuming blood.

But I have a few things against you: you have some there who hold the teaching of Balaam, who taught Balak to put a stumbling block before the sons of Israel, so that they might eat food sacrificed to idols and practice sexual immorality.

But I have this against you, that you tolerate that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess and is teaching and seducing my servants to practice sexual immorality and to eat food sacrificed to idols.

But you shall not eat flesh with its life, that is, its blood.

But as for the Gentiles who have believed, we have sent a letter with our judgment that they should abstain from what has been sacrificed to idols, and from blood, and from what has been strangled, and from sexual immorality.”

Therefore, as to the eating of food offered to idols, we know that“ an idol has no real existence,” and that“ there is no God but one.”For although there may be so-called gods in heaven or on earth— as indeed there are many“ gods” and many“ lords”—yet for us there is one God, the Father, from whom are all things and for whom we exist, and one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom are all things and through whom we exist.However, not all possess this knowledge. But some, through former association with idols, eat food as really offered to an idol, and their conscience, being weak, is defiled.Food will not commend us to God. We are no worse off if we do not eat, and no better off if we do.But take care that this right of yours does not somehow become a stumbling block to the weak.For if anyone sees you who have knowledge eating in an idol’s temple, will he not be encouraged, if his conscience is weak, to eat food offered to idols?And so by your knowledge this weak person is destroyed, the brother for whom Christ died.Thus, sinning against your brothers and wounding their conscience when it is weak, you sin against Christ.Therefore, if food makes my brother stumble, I will never eat meat, lest I make my brother stumble.

Only you shall not eat the blood; you shall pour it out on the earth like water.

The rest of mankind, who were not killed by these plagues, did not repent of the works of their hands nor give up worshiping demons and idols of gold and silver and bronze and stone and wood, which cannot see or hear or walk,

Therefore I have said to the people of Israel, You shall not eat the blood of any creature, for the life of every creature is its blood. Whoever eats it shall be cut off.

Now concerning food offered to idols: we know that“ all of us possess knowledge.” This“ knowledge” puffs up, but love builds up.

lest you make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land, and when they whore after their gods and sacrifice to their gods and you are invited, you eat of his sacrifice,and you take of their daughters for your sons, and their daughters whore after their gods and make your sons whore after their gods.

Only you shall not eat its blood; you shall pour it out on the ground like water.

Do not be idolaters as some of them were; as it is written,“ The people sat down to eat and drink and rose up to play.”We must not indulge in sexual immorality as some of them did, and twenty-three thousand fell in a single day.

For the time that is past suffices for doing what the Gentiles want to do, living in sensuality, passions, drunkenness, orgies, drinking parties, and lawless idolatry.

Flee from sexual immorality. Every other sin a person commits is outside the body, but the sexually immoral person sins against his own body.

Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality,

Therefore say to them, Thus says the Lord God: You eat flesh with the blood and lift up your eyes to your idols and shed blood; shall you then possess the land?

They sacrificed their sons and their daughters to the demons;they poured out innocent blood, the blood of their sons and daughters, whom they sacrificed to the idols of Canaan, and the land was polluted with blood.Thus they became unclean by their acts, and played the whore in their deeds.

These invited the people to the sacrifices of their gods, and the people ate and bowed down to their gods.

Put to death therefore what is earthly in you: sexual immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry.

You shall not make gods of silver to be with me, nor shall you make for yourselves gods of gold.

The people pounced on the spoil and took sheep and oxen and calves and slaughtered them on the ground. And the people ate them with the blood.

I fear that when I come again my God may humble me before you, and I may have to mourn over many of those who sinned earlier and have not repented of the impurity, sexual immorality, and sensuality that they have practiced.

So Jacob said to his household and to all who were with him,“ Put away the foreign gods that are among you and purify yourselves and change your garments.

Therefore, my beloved, flee from idolatry.I speak as to sensible people; judge for yourselves what I say.The cup of blessing that we bless, is it not a participation in the blood of Christ? The bread that we break, is it not a participation in the body of Christ?Because there is one bread, we who are many are one body, for we all partake of the one bread.Consider the people of Israel: are not those who eat the sacrifices participants in the altar?What do I imply then? That food offered to idols is anything, or that an idol is anything?No, I imply that what pagans sacrifice they offer to demons and not to God. I do not want you to be participants with demons.You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons. You cannot partake of the table of the Lord and the table of demons.Shall we provoke the Lord to jealousy? Are we stronger than he?“ All things are lawful,” but not all things are helpful.“ All things are lawful,” but not all things build up.Let no one seek his own good, but the good of his neighbor.Eat whatever is sold in the meat market without raising any question on the ground of conscience.For“ the earth is the Lord’s, and the fullness thereof.”If one of the unbelievers invites you to dinner and you are disposed to go, eat whatever is set before you without raising any question on the ground of conscience.But if someone says to you,“ This has been offered in sacrifice,” then do not eat it, for the sake of the one who informed you, and for the sake of conscience—

Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the marriage bed be undefiled, for God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterous.

For everything created by God is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving,for it is made holy by the word of God and prayer.

Only be sure that you do not eat the blood, for the blood is the life, and you shall not eat the life with the flesh.You shall not eat it; you shall pour it out on the earth like water.You shall not eat it, that all may go well with you and with your children after you, when you do what is right in the sight of the Lord.

For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you abstain from sexual immorality;

“ Therefore say to the house of Israel, Thus says the Lord God: Will you defile yourselves after the manner of your fathers and go whoring after their detestable things?When you present your gifts and offer up your children in fire, you defile yourselves with all your idols to this day. And shall I be inquired of by you, O house of Israel? As I live, declares the Lord God, I will not be inquired of by you.

But sexual immorality and all impurity or covetousness must not even be named among you, as is proper among saints.

He had a little scroll open in his hand. And he set his right foot on the sea, and his left foot on the land,

“ Food is meant for the stomach and the stomach for food”— and God will destroy both one and the other. The body is not meant for sexual immorality, but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body.

But because of the temptation to sexual immorality, each man should have his own wife and each woman her own husband.

Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality,

But Daniel resolved that he would not defile himself with the king’s food, or with the wine that he drank. Therefore he asked the chief of the eunuchs to allow him not to defile himself.
