到了天亮，猶太人在一起祕密計謀，並且發誓說，不殺保羅，就不吃不喝。一同策劃這項陰謀的有四十多人。他們來見眾祭司長和長老，說：“我們已經發了誓，不殺保羅，就不吃東西。現在你們和公議會要通知千夫長，帶保羅到你們這裡來，裝作要詳細審查他。我們已經預備好了，不等他走近，就把他殺了。”但保羅的外甥聽見這項埋伏的詭計，就到營樓去，告訴保羅。保羅請了一個百夫長來，說：“請你帶這個青年人去見千夫長，他有事要報告。”百夫長就帶保羅的外甥去見千夫長，說：“囚犯保羅請了我去，求我帶這個青年人來見你，他有事要向你報告。”千夫長拉著他的手，走到一邊，私下問他：“你有甚麼事要向我報告？”他說：“猶太人已經約好了，要求你明天把保羅帶到公議會裡去，裝作要詳細審查他。你不要聽他們，因為他們有四十多人正在埋伏起來等著保羅；他們發了誓，不殺保羅，就不吃不喝。現在他們已經準備好了，只等你答應。”千夫長囑咐那青年人：“不要告訴人你把這事告訴了我。”然後就打發他走了。

但帖撒羅尼迦的猶太人，知道保羅又在比里亞宣講神的道，就到那裡去，煽動挑撥群眾。弟兄們立刻把保羅送到海邊去；西拉和提摩太仍然留在比里亞。

亞蘭王與以色列人打仗，他和他的臣僕商議，說：“我要在某處某處埋伏。”神人就差派人去見以色列王說：“你要小心，不要經過這個地方，因為亞蘭人在那裡埋伏。”以色列王派人到那地方，就是神人曾告訴他，警告他的，他就在那裡小心防範；這樣不止一兩次。亞蘭王因為這事心中大感困惑，他召了他的臣僕來，對他們說：“在我們中間有誰幫助以色列王，你們不告訴我嗎？”他的一位臣僕說：“我主我王啊！不是的；只不過是以色列的以利沙先知，把你在你臥室內所說的話，告知了以色列王。”

保羅來到了特庇，又到了路司得。在那裡有一個門徒，名叫提摩太，是一個信主的猶太婦人的兒子，父親卻是希臘人。路司得和以哥念的弟兄們都稱讚他。

但他們的計謀給掃羅知道了。他們就在各城門日夜把守，要殺掉他。
