遂經敘利亞、基利嘉、堅固諸教會、

爾曹恆偕我於患難中、故我以國賜爾、如我父賜我然、

未有於今世不獲百倍者、即屋宇、兄弟、姊妹、父母、田疇、兼有窘逐、而來世得永生矣、

我約翰為爾兄弟、與爾為耶穌基督同受患難、同在其國、同為彼而忍耐、為天主道及耶穌基督之證、在拔摩海島、在拔摩海島或作見放於拔摩海島

是時兄將解弟、父將解子、以致之死、子女起攻父母而弒之、且爾將為我名、見憾於眾、惟至終恆忍者、必得救、

我以此告爾、免爾因我躓蹶、人將逐爾出會、且時將至、凡殺爾者、必以為此乃奉事天主、

可愛者乎、我既殷勤以書達爾、論我儕共得之救、於書內必當勸爾、為昔日一次所授聖徒之道、盡心爭辯、
