since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them.For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities— his eternal power and divine nature— have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.

The Lord will open the heavens, the storehouse of his bounty, to send rain on your land in season and to bless all the work of your hands. You will lend to many nations but will borrow from none.

Be glad, people of Zion, rejoice in the Lord your God, for he has given you the autumn rains because he is faithful. He sends you abundant showers, both autumn and spring rains, as before.

Otherwise, when you eat and are satisfied, when you build fine houses and settle down,and when your herds and flocks grow large and your silver and gold increase and all you have is multiplied,then your heart will become proud and you will forget the Lord your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery.

I will send you rain in its season, and the ground will yield its crops and the trees their fruit.

They do not say to themselves,‘ Let us fear the Lord our God, who gives autumn and spring rains in season, who assures us of the regular weeks of harvest.’

Your love, Lord, reaches to the heavens, your faithfulness to the skies.Your righteousness is like the highest mountains, your justice like the great deep. You, Lord, preserve both people and animals.How priceless is your unfailing love, O God! People take refuge in the shadow of your wings.

to water a land where no one lives, an uninhabited desert,to satisfy a desolate wasteland and make it sprout with grass?Does the rain have a father? Who fathers the drops of dew?

I will make them and the places surrounding my hill a blessing. I will send down showers in season; there will be showers of blessing.

Do any of the worthless idols of the nations bring rain? Do the skies themselves send down showers? No, it is you, Lord our God. Therefore our hope is in you, for you are the one who does all this.

The Lord is good to all; he has compassion on all he has made.

After a long time, in the third year, the word of the Lord came to Elijah:“ Go and present yourself to Ahab, and I will send rain on the land.”

Elijah was a human being, even as we are. He prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the land for three and a half years.Again he prayed, and the heavens gave rain, and the earth produced its crops.

But see, there is joy and revelry, slaughtering of cattle and killing of sheep, eating of meat and drinking of wine!“ Let us eat and drink,” you say,“ for tomorrow we die!”

God did this so that they would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from any one of us.‘ For in him we live and move and have our being.’ As some of your own poets have said,‘ We are his offspring.’

How many are your works, Lord! In wisdom you made them all; the earth is full of your creatures.There is the sea, vast and spacious, teeming with creatures beyond number— living things both large and small.There the ships go to and fro, and Leviathan, which you formed to frolic there.All creatures look to you to give them their food at the proper time.When you give it to them, they gather it up; when you open your hand, they are satisfied with good things.

But love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back. Then your reward will be great, and you will be children of the Most High, because he is kind to the ungrateful and wicked.

You gave abundant showers, O God; you refreshed your weary inheritance.Your people settled in it, and from your bounty, God, you provided for the poor.

I will make it a wasteland, neither pruned nor cultivated, and briers and thorns will grow there. I will command the clouds not to rain on it.”

Sing to the Lord with grateful praise; make music to our God on the harp.He covers the sky with clouds; he supplies the earth with rain and makes grass grow on the hills.

Why do you boast of evil, you mighty hero? Why do you boast all day long, you who are a disgrace in the eyes of God?

Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment.

that you may be children of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.

You care for the land and water it; you enrich it abundantly. The streams of God are filled with water to provide the people with grain, for so you have ordained it.You drench its furrows and level its ridges; you soften it with showers and bless its crops.You crown the year with your bounty, and your carts overflow with abundance.The grasslands of the wilderness overflow; the hills are clothed with gladness.The meadows are covered with flocks and the valleys are mantled with grain; they shout for joy and sing.

The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they reveal knowledge.They have no speech, they use no words; no sound is heard from them.Yet their voice goes out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world. In the heavens God has pitched a tent for the sun.

They captured fortified cities and fertile land; they took possession of houses filled with all kinds of good things, wells already dug, vineyards, olive groves and fruit trees in abundance. They ate to the full and were well-nourished; they reveled in your great goodness.

The eyes of all look to you, and you give them their food at the proper time.You open your hand and satisfy the desires of every living thing.

He says to the snow,‘ Fall on the earth,’ and to the rain shower,‘ Be a mighty downpour.’
