When Herod saw how much this pleased the Jewish people, he also arrested Peter.( This took place during the Passover celebration.)

When he saw that this met with approval among the Jews, he proceeded to seize Peter also. This happened during the Festival of Unleavened Bread.

Herod saw that the death of James pleased some Jews. So he arrested Peter also. This happened during the Feast of Unleavened Bread.

and when he saw that it pleased the Jews, he proceeded to arrest Peter also. This was during the days of Unleavened Bread.

When he saw that it pleased the Jews, he proceeded to arrest Peter too, during the Festival of Unleavened Bread.

First, celebrate the Festival of Unleavened Bread. For seven days the bread you eat must be made without yeast, just as I commanded you. Celebrate this festival annually at the appointed time in early spring, in the month of Abib, for that is the anniversary of your departure from Egypt. No one may appear before me without an offering.

After two years went by in this way, Felix was succeeded by Porcius Festus. And because Felix wanted to gain favor with the Jewish people, he left Paul in prison.

Then Festus, wanting to please the Jews, asked him,“ Are you willing to go to Jerusalem and stand trial before me there?”

For we speak as messengers approved by God to be entrusted with the Good News. Our purpose is to please God, not people. He alone examines the motives of our hearts.

“ I tell you the truth, when you were young, you were able to do as you liked; you dressed yourself and went wherever you wanted to go. But when you are old, you will stretch out your hands, and others will dress you and take you where you don’t want to go.”

Then Jesus said,“ You would have no power over me at all unless it were given to you from above. So the one who handed me over to you has the greater sin.”

On the first day of the Festival of Unleavened Bread, the disciples came to Jesus and asked,“ Where do you want us to prepare the Passover meal for you?”

So Moses said to the people,“ This is a day to remember forever— the day you left Egypt, the place of your slavery. Today the Lord has brought you out by the power of his mighty hand.( Remember, eat no food containing yeast.)On this day in early spring, in the month of Abib, you have been set free.You must celebrate this event in this month each year after the Lord brings you into the land of the Canaanites, Hittites, Amorites, Hivites, and Jebusites.( He swore to your ancestors that he would give you this land— a land flowing with milk and honey.)For seven days the bread you eat must be made without yeast. Then on the seventh day, celebrate a feast to the Lord.Eat bread without yeast during those seven days. In fact, there must be no yeast bread or any yeast at all found within the borders of your land during this time.

After the Passover ended, we boarded a ship at Philippi in Macedonia and five days later joined them in Troas, where we stayed a week.

For they loved human praise more than the praise of God.

“ This is a day to remember. Each year, from generation to generation, you must celebrate it as a special festival to the Lord. This is a law for all time.For seven days the bread you eat must be made without yeast. On the first day of the festival, remove every trace of yeast from your homes. Anyone who eats bread made with yeast during the seven days of the festival will be cut off from the community of Israel.On the first day of the festival and again on the seventh day, all the people must observe an official day for holy assembly. No work of any kind may be done on these days except in the preparation of food.“ Celebrate this Festival of Unleavened Bread, for it will remind you that I brought your forces out of the land of Egypt on this very day. This festival will be a permanent law for you; celebrate this day from generation to generation.The bread you eat must be made without yeast from the evening of the fourteenth day of the first month until the evening of the twenty first day of that month.During those seven days, there must be no trace of yeast in your homes. Anyone who eats anything made with yeast during this week will be cut off from the community of Israel. These regulations apply both to the foreigners living among you and to the native born Israelites.During those days you must not eat anything made with yeast. Wherever you live, eat only bread made without yeast.”

Human defiance only enhances your glory, for you use it as a weapon.

On the next day, the fifteenth day of the month, you must begin celebrating the Festival of Unleavened Bread. This festival to the Lord continues for seven days, and during that time the bread you eat must be made without yeast.On the first day of the festival, all the people must stop their ordinary work and observe an official day for holy assembly.For seven days you must present special gifts to the Lord. On the seventh day the people must again stop all their ordinary work to observe an official day for holy assembly.”Then the Lord said to Moses,“ Give the following instructions to the people of Israel. When you enter the land I am giving you and you harvest its first crops, bring the priest a bundle of grain from the first cutting of your grain harvest.On the day after the Sabbath, the priest will lift it up before the Lord so it may be accepted on your behalf.On that same day you must sacrifice a one year old male lamb with no defects as a burnt offering to the Lord.With it you must present a grain offering consisting of four quarts of choice flour moistened with olive oil. It will be a special gift, a pleasing aroma to the Lord. You must also offer one quart of wine as a liquid offering.Do not eat any bread or roasted grain or fresh kernels on that day until you bring this offering to your God. This is a permanent law for you, and it must be observed from generation to generation wherever you live.

Obviously, I’m not trying to win the approval of people, but of God. If pleasing people were my goal, I would not be Christ’s servant.

The members of the council were amazed when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, for they could see that they were ordinary men with no special training in the Scriptures. They also recognized them as men who had been with Jesus.

Then Peter stepped forward with the eleven other apostles and shouted to the crowd,“ Listen carefully, all of you, fellow Jews and residents of Jerusalem! Make no mistake about this.

Get rid of the old“ yeast” by removing this wicked person from among you. Then you will be like a fresh batch of dough made without yeast, which is what you really are. Christ, our Passover Lamb, has been sacrificed for us.So let us celebrate the festival, not with the old bread of wickedness and evil, but with the new bread of sincerity and truth.
