After Herod had a thorough search made for him and did not find him, he cross- examined the guards and ordered that they be executed. Then Herod went from Judea to Caesarea and stayed there.

So Herod had them look everywhere for Peter. But they didn’t find him. Then Herod questioned the guards closely. He ordered that they be put to death. Then Herod went from Judea to Caesarea and stayed there.

以色列王、憂憤交集、至撒馬利亞、而返宮闈。

婦去時、守者入城以事報祭司諸長、彼同長老集議、以多金予兵、曰、爾可云、我眠時、其徒夜來盜之、倘聞於方伯、我即勸之、使爾無虞、兵受金、如所屬而行、於是此言徧揚猶太人中、至今日也、○

當時、希律知為博士所賣、怒甚、遣人將伯利恆境內所有之嬰、按其詳問博士時、凡二歲以下者殲之、

明日保羅及從人至該撒利亞、入傳福音者腓力家居之、此人乃執事七人之一、

越數日、亞基帕王、與百尼基至該撒利亞、問非士都安、

大闢處野、登西弗山、扼其險要。掃羅索之無虛日、惟上帝不付於其手。
