他先找到自己的哥哥西門，對他說：「我們遇見彌賽亞了。」（「彌賽亞」翻出來就是基督。）於是安得烈領西門去見耶穌。耶穌看着他，說：「你是約翰的兒子西門，你要稱為磯法。」（「磯法」翻出來就是彼得。）又過了一天，耶穌想要往加利利去。他找到腓力，就對他說：「來跟從我！」這腓力是伯賽大人，是安得烈和彼得的同鄉。腓力找到拿但業，對他說：「摩西在律法書上所寫的，和眾先知所記的那一位，我們遇見了，就是約瑟的兒子拿撒勒人耶穌。」拿但業對他說：「拿撒勒還能出甚麼好的嗎？」腓力說：「你來看。」耶穌看見拿但業向他走來，就論到他說：「看哪，這真是個以色列人！他心裏是沒有詭詐的。」拿但業對耶穌說：「你從哪裏認識我的？」耶穌回答他說：「腓力還沒有呼喚你，你在無花果樹底下，我就看見你了。」拿但業回答他：「拉比！你是上帝的兒子，你是以色列的王。」

在那日，你們各人要請鄰舍坐在葡萄樹和無花果樹下。這是萬軍之耶和華說的。」

「萬軍之耶和華如此說：將來還有眾百姓和許多城鎮的居民要來。這城的居民必到那城，說：『我們快去懇求耶和華的恩，尋求萬軍之耶和華；我自己也要去。』必有許多民族和強盛的國家來到耶路撒冷尋求萬軍之耶和華，懇求耶和華的恩。萬軍之耶和華如此說：在那些日子，列國中說各種語言的人，必有十個人強拉住一個猶大人衣服的邊，說：『我們要與你們同去，因為我們聽見上帝與你們同在了。』」

那婦人留下水罐，往城裏去，對眾人說：「你們來看！有一個人把我素來所做的一切事都說了出來，難道這個人就是基督嗎？」

後來有人在亞鎖都遇見腓利；他走遍那地方，在各城宣揚福音，一直到凱撒利亞。
