但我要從父那裏差保惠師來，就是從父出來真理的聖靈；他來了，就要為我作見證。

他既被神的右手高舉，又從父受了所應許的聖靈，就把你們所看見所聽見的，澆灌下來。

耶穌這話是指着信他之人要受聖靈說的。那時還沒有賜下聖靈來，因為耶穌尚未得着榮耀。

然而，我將真情告訴你們，我去是與你們有益的；我若不去，保惠師就不到你們這裏來；我若去，就差他來。他既來了，就要叫世人為罪、為義、為審判，自己責備自己。為罪，是因他們不信我；為義，是因我往父那裏去，你們就不再見我；為審判，是因這世界的王受了審判。「我還有好些事要告訴你們，但你們現在擔當不了。只等真理的聖靈來了，他要引導你們明白一切的真理；因為他不是憑自己說的，乃是把他所聽見的都說出來，並要把將來的事告訴你們。他要榮耀我，因為他要將受於我的告訴你們。凡父所有的，都是我的；所以我說，他要將受於我的告訴你們。」

但保惠師，就是父因我的名所要差來的聖靈，他要將一切的事指教你們，並且要叫你們想起我對你們所說的一切話。我留下平安給你們；我將我的平安賜給你們。我所賜的，不像世人所賜的。你們心裏不要憂愁，也不要膽怯。你們聽見我對你們說了，我去還要到你們這裏來。你們若愛我，因我到父那裏去，就必喜樂，因為父是比我大的。

因為正在那時候，聖靈要指教你們當說的話。」

說了這話，就向他們吹一口氣，說：「你們受聖靈！

因為不是你們自己說的，乃是你們父的靈在你們裏頭說的。

你們雖然不好，尚且知道拿好東西給兒女；何況天父，豈不更將聖靈給求他的人嗎？」

不是顯現給眾人看，乃是顯現給神預先所揀選為他作見證的人看，就是我們這些在他從死裏復活以後和他同吃同喝的人。

他們正喜得不敢信，並且希奇；耶穌就說：「你們這裏有甚麼吃的沒有？」他們便給他一片燒魚。他接過來，在他們面前吃了。
